This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Pep's Point, highlighting its enduring appeal, its range of activities, and why it remains a suitable choice for Mississippians looking for a classic summer getaway.
Pep's Point, established in 1939, boasts a rich history as a "laid back country water park." It centers around a natural, spring-fed lake, ensuring the water is "nice and cold – no matter how hot it is outside," a truly welcome feature during Mississippi's warm summers. Beyond just a swimming hole, Pep's Point offers a variety of attractions designed for family fun. Visitors can enjoy a white sand beach, multiple water slides that flow directly into the lake, canoeing, paddle boats, miniature golf, volleyball nets, and even a pavilion for group gatherings.
Recent reviews of Pep's Point reveal a mix of experiences, reflecting a park undergoing transitions. While some long-time patrons express sadness over areas needing repair and maintenance, new visitors frequently share overwhelmingly positive feedback. One recent guest enthusiastically stated, "We spent the last weekend at Pep’s Point and I just wanna say we had an excellent experience. The staff was wonderful. The cabins and the ground were exceptionally clean (for the most part). My family enjoyed the water park, especially the slides. We didn’t wanna leave once our reservation was up." This suggests that under current management, there is a clear effort to revitalize the park and enhance the guest experience, with staff actively seeking suggestions for improvement.
For those considering a visit, it's important to note that Pep's Point operates seasonally, typically from May to September, with specific hours for its water park and swimming areas. Pep's Point Water Park Reviews
Ive been going here for over 40 years. It used to be a good place. Its so sad to see how run down it is. New owners have bitten off more than they can chew, in way over their heads. Unkempt. Buildings looking like urban decay that just need to be knocked down. Campsites in total disrepair. It's just parking in an open grass field basically, theres no shade. They didn't prepare a campsite for my arrival and I had to look around and find one where the power would work. Theres random trash laying around like exercise equipment, old tractors. Looks like someone has been living here a long time in a broke down camper with broken trash surrounding it. Other buildings that I dont know the original use, broken windows, ect. They can't get the slides working, so it's only swimming available at the moment. This is sad. So sad to see a place that holds such fond memories of my past this run down.

Mar 19, 2025 · Shiela Pelas-WallacePep point is located less than 10 miles from Hattiesburg. It’s been around for over 40 years and is a great family getaway. For 15 dollars you get an all day pass that includes not only the water slides but miniature golf. If you get there early enough you can get a pavilion for 20.00 and a grill for 5. Great deals all around! The staff is tremendous, I took my 2 year old down the water slide and they helped with getting him on the pad at the top, and we there to grab him as we slid down. They have cabins to rent and a camp ground for campers. If your looking for a great time, without shoveling out a lot of money this is the place to go!
