The trail to the springs is steep and can be challenging, requiring appropriate footwear and a reasonable level of agility. However, the reward of soaking in the warm, natural waters is well worth the effort.

Penny Springs Campground Reviews
Such a nice getaway! No cell service is just what we needed. The toilet was clean and didn't smell horrible.
Jun 17, 2025 · Tina MartinezI hate to leave a bad review but this is not a great campground. Sorry for the length, lots of details to share. The road is made of very deep fine dusty dirt and if anyone drives through even at a slow speed it kicks up so much dust!I was the only person at the camp the night I stayed. However there was a steady stream of people driving in during the late evening to use the pit toilets (suppose they were dispersed camping somewhere nearby?)The squirrels were in attack mode the entire time I was there and by the next morning I felt like Bill Murray in Caddyshack... a little crazed and yelling at them to leave me alone! They came in waves and coordinated their attack so one distracted while others tried to go in for anything that wasn’t secure!Double check that EVERYTHING is secured, have a bear canister and hang your bag. Otherwise they will chew through whatever you have! The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because the hot springs nearby are amazing and mostly make the campground worth it! The last part of the trail down to the springs is pretty steep and in soft dirt! Don’t attempt unless you have good shoes and are pretty agile! Springs were quite hot, but easy to mix in cooler stream water!
Jul 15, 2018 · Lauri PaulsenReally peaceful, close to the river and walking distance to a hot springs. Good fishing too. Even found some huckleberries!
Aug 29, 2023 · BB RNThis is a very nice Campground if you can get in it. Add beer and bear come into our camp, biggest problem was people getting drunk and obnoxious. The park ranger or forest service should visit the place a little more often to control people.
Jul 12, 2022 · Dave LukeReally nice campground. Forest Service lady cleaned the bathroom. Plenty of room in each campsite.
