Pendleton KOA Journey

1375 SE 3rd St, Pendleton, OR 97801, USA

4.0
If you love the smell of cigarettes, this place is for you.First off, the good points. The area is very well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and have very hot water. The hook ups are easy. Now the not so good... It seems like every other site hosts a long term chain smoker. The sites are a little more than a parking lot with a few trees. Nothing like trying to get to sleep or enjoy dinner while your neighbors fumigate the air that you're trying to breathe. The location is nothing special. There is a view of the golden plains, but no walking paths to nature or town. The town is on the other side of the freeway so if you're looking for a place to eat or shop, you'll need to drive to get there or hop on your bikes if you've got some.I was just here for one night while passing through. It's good for a quick one night stop. For anything longer, my personal choice would be to pick a spot with more space between campers and something closer to walking and hiking paths. - Daniel Seemiller

Pendleton KOA Journey Introduce

For Oregon locals traversing the vast landscapes of Eastern Oregon or seeking a practical basecamp to explore the historic city of Pendleton, the Pendleton KOA Journey offers a reliable and well-equipped stop. This campground is designed as a convenient oasis for travelers, providing essential amenities and a friendly environment that makes it perfect for a quick overnight stay or as a launching point for exploring the region's rich history and natural beauty. If you're an Oregonian needing a clean, accessible, and hassle-free camping experience, the Pendleton KOA Journey is ready to welcome you.

KOA Journey campgrounds are specifically tailored to be easy-access stops for travelers, focusing on providing comfortable and consistent facilities. The Pendleton KOA Journey lives up to this standard by offering the necessary hookups and amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. While it may not be a secluded wilderness retreat, its strength lies in its practicality and the quality of its core services, making it a dependable choice for many Oregon residents.

Reviews from real customers provide valuable insights into the experience. Many consistently praise the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities. One reviewer noted, "The area is very well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and have very hot water. The hook ups are easy." This is a significant highlight, especially for those who prioritize hygiene and comfort while on the road. Another guest, passing through for just one night, affirmed its suitability: "It's good for a quick one night stop." The friendly staff also earns high marks, with comments like "Well kept, nice people," contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The "view on the backside was also amazing!" hinting at the distant beauty of the surrounding landscape, including the Blue Mountains.

However, it's important to set expectations regarding the campground's layout and environment. Some reviews mention that "The sites are a little more than a parking lot with a few trees" and that "The location is nothing special. There is a view of the golden plains, but no walking paths to nature or town. The town is on the other side of the freeway." This suggests a more urban or highway-adjacent setting, typical for a "Journey" KOA. Additionally, a recurring theme in some reviews points to the presence of "long term chain smoker" at some sites, and sites being "super close together = no privacy." While this might not bother everyone, it’s a factor for those seeking more personal space or fresh air. Despite these points, the overall sentiment remains positive for its intended purpose as a convenient and clean stopover.

Location and Accessibility

The Pendleton KOA Journey is strategically located at 1375 SE 3rd St, Pendleton, OR 97801, USA. This address places it within the city limits of Pendleton, a historically rich and culturally significant city in Eastern Oregon. For Oregon locals, Pendleton is widely known for its iconic Pendleton Round-Up rodeo and the famous Pendleton Woolen Mills, making it a popular destination.

The campground's accessibility is one of its strongest features. It is conveniently situated close to Interstate 84 (I-84), the major east-west freeway connecting much of Oregon. According to KOA's directions, you can "Take Exit 210. Head uphill (South), take the first right (SE Nye St.), and then the first left (SE 3rd St.)." This direct and straightforward routing makes it incredibly easy to access for all types of vehicles, including large RVs and those towing trailers, without navigating complex city streets or remote country roads. This ease of access is crucial for those looking for a quick and uncomplicated stop during their travels.

While the campground itself is not nestled in a deep natural setting, its urban-adjacent location provides immediate access to Pendleton's amenities. As noted in reviews, "The town is on the other side of the freeway so if you're looking for a place to eat or shop, you'll need to drive to get there or hop on your bikes if you've got some." This means that restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and local attractions like the Pendleton Underground Tours or the Woolen Mill are just a short drive away, offering practical convenience that many travelers appreciate. Despite being close to the city, the campground still offers a "view of the golden plains" and distant "Blue Mountains," adding a touch of Oregon scenery to your stay.
