Location and Accessibility
Patten Pond Campground is conveniently situated at 1470 Bucksport Rd, Ellsworth, ME 04605, USA. This location places it strategically in the heart of Downeast Maine, offering both a peaceful retreat and excellent accessibility to popular regional destinations. Ellsworth, known as the "Gateway to Acadia," is a vibrant town that provides all necessary services, from grocery stores to restaurants, just a short drive from the campground.
For Maine residents, reaching Patten Pond Campground is straightforward. The campground is located directly off Bucksport Road (Route 1A), a well-maintained state road that connects Ellsworth to Bucksport and other coastal communities. This makes it easily accessible for those traveling from Bangor (approximately 45 minutes to an hour drive) or points further south or west in Maine. The proximity to Route 1, a major scenic highway, also ensures smooth travel for campers arriving from various parts of the state.
A key aspect of its accessibility is its direct frontage on Patten Pond, which is actually a sizable 749-acre lake. This lake access means campers are steps away from opportunities for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and boating, without needing to travel off-site. For RVers, the campground offers pull-through sites, which are often appreciated for their ease of access for larger rigs. While some reviews mention sites being "close together," the campground is set back from the main road, ensuring "no road noise" and contributing to a generally quiet environment. This combination of a tranquil lakeside setting with easy road access to major attractions like Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (both just a "short drive away") makes Patten Pond Campground a highly accessible and desirable choice for Maine locals.

Patten Pond Campground Reviews
It was definitely a place me and my partner would love to visit again. We were in a buggy spot but got moved to P1 great view of the water! Everyone around were friendly. I know me and my bfs sister and her bf also enjoyed the activity center. As well as the basketball hoop. I do wish there were porta potty's closer by the tenting area's as it was a long walk for people who don't own a golf cart. We were happy that dogs were allowed as well! I could see us going here again.
May 20, 2025 · Hailee HinkleyOne of the worst campground of our thousand trails membership that we have been to this month! The lady working at the registration desk was a total grump, bathrooms smell so musky and gross all the toilets are broken they lift up off the ground and toilet seat turns on you when you sit on it! Wasn’t a very pleasant place I am not pleased by all means for traveling over 1500 miles! WAS NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER BY ALL MEANS!
Jun 13, 2025 · Sarah CookStayed in the "Yellow Cabin" and can't say enough wonderful things about it! It was super clean and well appointed! The kitchen included anything we would need to make a great meal, including a full size refrigerator, stove and oven, as well as a microwave and a single serve coffee maker that uses K-cups!There is plenty of space in this little park model, especially considering the Florida room that is attached, which is a great space to sit and enjoy your morning coffee! Need to get some work done? No problem! There is a built in desk space and wifi available! For longer stays, there is even a washer and dryer in the cabin! You'll want to bring bed linens/sleeping bags and towels.Enough about the cabin, though! The campground itself is so beautiful and well maintained! You'll find relaxation as soon as you drive onto the property. It is just such a calming environment!I'm looking forward to my next stay!
Aug 18, 2024 · holly p6/19/24 - Great staff. Loved the welcome trinkets. Store is large with lots of souvenir merchandise. Well maintained park. Renting a canoe or kayak is a must! The lake is beautiful. The bathroom and showers are clean and the laundry machines use an app or credit card. Will definitely come back to visit.
Sep 29, 2024 · RV AdventurerInitially we were squeezed into a site we could hardly fit into. The neighbor was using our spot as a car parking spot… few days later requested to move because we were clearly not fitting in the spot they assigned us. We moved and spent the next week smelling sewage. The smell was really bad near the entrance and was in many areas of the campground. We couldn’t even use the fire pit due to the stench. Bathrooms were clean (aside from poo smell) showers also were clean. Location is good right on the water with quick drive to Acadia. Loose dog started a small scuffle with our (on leash) dog. Dog owners didn’t seem concerned about their off leash dogs… no where to walk dogs other than through the campground. Would be nice to have a small trail or other walking area. The smell throughout our stay just made everything horrible. Couldn’t enjoy sitting outside our camper. Won’t be returning for this reason.
