Paddler's Village is uniquely situated on Scrooge's Alley in Munising, MI 49862, USA. This location places it squarely within Munising, a renowned gateway city to the magnificent Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and other significant natural attractions in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Munising itself is a bustling hub for outdoor tourism, offering a blend of natural beauty and essential services.
The campground's address on "Scrooge's Alley" suggests a tucked-away, potentially more private setting within the town. However, it's crucial to note from customer reviews that the yurts are located "right next to a busy road." This proximity to a main thoroughfare (likely a segment of M-28 or a major local road) means excellent accessibility for vehicles, including those with trailers, allowing for easy arrival and departure. This is a significant advantage for campers who want to avoid navigating long, unpaved back roads, especially after a long drive.
While the convenience of being near a main road facilitates travel, it also brings with it the potential for noise. Reviewers have mentioned that the road can be "noisy," which is a factor to consider for those sensitive to ambient sounds during their stay. Despite this, the ease of access allows campers to quickly reach popular attractions such as the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, various waterfalls, hiking trails, and Lake Superior access points for kayaking, boat tours, and other water activities. Munising also provides a wide array of amenities, including restaurants, shops, and outfitters, all easily reachable from Paddler's Village.
For Michiganders planning to explore the central Upper Peninsula, Paddler's Village offers a highly accessible base. Its location within Munising means that outdoor adventures and necessary conveniences are never far away, making it a practical choice for those who want to maximize their time enjoying the region's natural wonders.
Paddler's Village focuses on providing a comfortable and unique camping experience, primarily through its distinctive yurt accommodations, complemented by several key services designed to enhance guest comfort. While not a traditional tent or RV park, its offerings cater to a specific desire for glamping with essential conveniences.
Yurt Accommodations: The core service of Paddler's Village is the provision of yurts for lodging. These structures offer a step up from traditional tent camping, typically featuring solid floors, comfortable beds (though specific bedding configurations should be confirmed upon booking), and a more protected environment.
Full Bathrooms within Yurts: A significant highlight mentioned by customers is the availability of "full bathrooms" within the yurts. This amenity provides private showers, toilets, and sinks, a considerable luxury compared to shared campground facilities and a major draw for glamping enthusiasts.
Fire Pits: Each yurt comes equipped with a fire pit, allowing guests to enjoy classic camping activities like campfires, s'mores, and outdoor cooking in the evening. This adds to the authentic outdoor experience while maintaining a degree of comfort.
Booking and Site Specificity: While there was some initial confusion reported by a customer about how many people could fit in a yurt, and concerns about booking a specific yurt (e.g., "on the beach") and receiving a different one, a positive review confirmed receiving the booked yurt. This suggests the campground strives to honor specific bookings, though clarification on yurt capacity for your group size is advisable.
Quiet Hours (Desired Enforcement): While not explicitly stated as an enforced service, customer feedback indicates a strong desire for "quiet hours" to be enforced due to the close proximity of yurts and the potential for noise from neighboring "partying." This implies the presence of a policy, even if its enforcement might vary.
The emphasis on private bathroom facilities and fire pits within unique yurt structures positions Paddler's Village as a compelling option for those seeking a comfortable and distinct camping experience near Munising. Prospective guests should verify yurt capacities and inquire about quiet hour policies for a smoother stay.
Paddler's Village offers a selection of key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a unique camping destination in Munising, particularly for those seeking a more comfortable outdoor experience. These attributes are often what draw visitors and create memorable stays.
Unique Yurt Accommodations: The primary highlight of Paddler's Village is its offering of yurts. These round, tent-like structures provide a distinct and appealing alternative to traditional tents or RVs, offering a blend of camping and glamping with solid construction and a cozy interior.
Private Full Bathrooms: A significant luxury for any campground, the inclusion of "full bathrooms" (with showers, toilets, and sinks) directly within each yurt is a major draw. This provides unparalleled convenience and privacy, elevating the camping experience considerably compared to shared facilities.
Individual Fire Pits: Each yurt is equipped with its own fire pit, allowing guests to enjoy the quintessential camping experience of a crackling campfire, perfect for relaxation, storytelling, and preparing outdoor snacks like s'mores.
Proximity to Munising Attractions: The campground's location in Munising provides easy access to the area's top attractions, most notably the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, numerous waterfalls, and direct access to Lake Superior for water activities. This allows campers to explore the region's natural beauty with minimal travel time.
Comfortable Stay: Reviewers describe the yurts as "very nice," indicating a comfortable and pleasant lodging experience. This level of comfort, combined with essential amenities, makes it an attractive option for those who enjoy the outdoors but prefer a softer landing than roughing it.
Specific Yurt Booking: While a minor point of confusion was noted, the ability to book a specific yurt and receive it (as confirmed by one reviewer) is a positive feature, allowing guests to choose their preferred location or amenities within the village.
While the close proximity to a busy road and potential noise from neighboring campers are points to consider, the unique accommodations, private bathrooms, and strategic location near Munising's natural wonders remain the defining highlights of Paddler's Village.

Paddler's Village in Munising, Michigan, offers a distinctive and highly suitable option for local Michigan residents seeking an outdoor getaway, particularly for those who appreciate comfort and unique lodging near the state's most iconic natural attractions. While some minor considerations exist, its core offerings align well with the desires of many Michiganders exploring their home state.
For locals, the primary allure of Paddler's Village lies in its unique yurt accommodations. This "glamping" style offers a comfortable bridge between traditional camping and hotel stays, perfect for those who enjoy the outdoor atmosphere but prefer the conveniences of a real bed and, crucially, a private full bathroom. This is a significant draw for Michiganders who might be new to camping, those with families, or individuals simply looking for a more relaxed and less rustic experience without sacrificing the natural setting.
The location in Munising is another major advantage for Michigan residents. Munising is the heart of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore area, making Paddler's Village an ideal basecamp for exploring one of Michigan's true natural wonders. Local users can easily access boat tours to see the colorful cliffs, embark on kayaking adventures along Lake Superior, hike to stunning waterfalls, and enjoy countless other outdoor activities. The convenience of being within Munising means quick access to local shops, restaurants, and outfitters, enhancing the overall vacation experience without requiring extensive travel from the campsite.
While the proximity to a busy road might introduce some ambient noise, and the close proximity of yurts might lead to audible conversations from neighbors, these factors are often a trade-off for such a convenient location and the unique amenities offered. For Michiganders who are adaptable and prioritize comfort within a natural setting, these are minor points when weighed against the benefits. The presence of individual fire pits further enhances the traditional camping feel, allowing for cherished campfire moments.
In essence, Paddler's Village is an excellent choice for Michigan locals seeking a comfortable, unique, and well-located camping experience in the Upper Peninsula. It caters to those who want to immerse themselves in the region's natural beauty, particularly the Pictured Rocks, while enjoying the added comfort of private facilities. Paddler's Village Reviews
The yurts were very nice, and the full bathrooms and fire pits were great. There was a little confusion about how many people could fit in a yurt. Also, the yurts were right next to a busy road, which was noisy. Otherwise, it was a very nice place.
Sep 03, 2024 · Laura MI was nervous as I read online that sometimes you book a yurt on the beach and you get something else. I am happy to report we got the yurt we booked and loved it. The only suggestion we have for them is to enforce quite hours. The tents/yurts are very close to each other, so you can hear every conversation. At night if someone is "partying", that's really bothersome. Highly recommend it, and would stay again.
Jul 05, 2023 · Erika KramerAbout 15 of us go on our yearly ‘Viking camping’ here at uncle duckies paddler village. We wait all year for this adventure!!We rent 1-4 Yurts and we also got a cabin last year. The first year was about 13• on average and the next year was a little bit warmer. 23•-40• we go in January or February.Everyone was so kind to us and the grounds keepers took very good care of everyone!!!The bathrooms were heated and very clean! The yurts were so cozy, clean, and warm!Everything was plowed for our vehicles and pathways. (There’s usually 3+ feet of snowOn the ground when we come up here)They always put in so much work to the place and just as much care for their guests.I cannot recommend This place enough! It’s magical!I hope they are open for the winter in 2021!!!
Dec 29, 2020 · Karianne GottschalkStaying in the yurt was AWESOME. My husband and I did this as a little weekend getaway and it was perfect. The yurts are private, really well kept, clean, and super cozy. Each one has a bed, table, mini fridge, rug, outdoor chairs, picnic table, and a firepit with ADORABLE hanging bulb lighting strung throughout the grounds. Bathrooms are nearby and super clean also (with running water and real toilets)! My only complaint would be the proximity of the yurts to one another. We did not open our yurt windows because we could see into our neighbors when they also had their windows open, so that was a bit awkward.Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to returning!
Aug 12, 2020 · Emily EricksonPaddler's Village was a great place for us to stay in the UP. We stayed in the Caribou yurt, which is closer to the road. Despite being closer to the road we were all able to sleep well at night. The yurt was also very close to the IMMACULATE bathrooms and showers. The actual yurt had a bunk bed (full bottom/twin top), a full pull out futon, table with two chairs, small fridge, and a coat rack. The yurt was a good size and was clean. Make sure to bring your own bedding! The campground was very well maintained, including the small beach at the campsite. We did not interact with staff too often but when we did they were always warm and courteous. When we were struggling with getting a fire started they even offered us some lighter fluid.
