Oak Point Campground Introduce
Oak Point Campground is one of the premier camping areas located within the scenic Crawford State Park complex in Southeast Kansas, managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP). Situated on the shores of the beautiful 150-acre Farlington Lake (also known as Crawford State Park Lake), this campground is a top choice for Kansas locals seeking a traditional, amenity-supported lake getaway. While some visitors note that the sites can be closely spaced, the campground is generally praised for being reasonably priced and offering an excellent base for family activities on the water and land.
Oak Point offers a diverse mix of camping options, catering to both RV enthusiasts and tent campers. The atmosphere is bustling and active, perfect for families, as evidenced by the mention of the playground and the general designation as Good for kids. Guests enjoy easy access to the lake for swimming, boating, and fishing. Although one review highlighted an unprofessional incident involving a park vehicle decal, the general commitment of Crawford State Park is to provide a safe, natural, and enjoyable environment for all Kansas residents and visitors.
The campground is centrally located within Crawford State Park, an expansive recreation area situated in the wooded, rolling hills of Southeast Kansas. This area is easily accessible for residents across the region, lying near major routes connecting to larger towns.
The location for the park is: Farlington, KS 66734, USA. The park is approximately nine miles north of Girard, Kansas.
Oak Point Campground is noted for its beautiful lakeside setting, with many sites offering views of Farlington Lake. The accessibility features include:
- RV Access: The majority of the utility sites are paved or concrete and level, designed for easy navigation and setup for RVs and trailers.
- Parking: Ample on-site parking is provided directly at the designated campsites.
- General Accessibility: While some sections of the park are fully ADA accessible, the Oak Point loop specifically offers a bathhouse with shower/toilet facilities and a playground that are marked as ADA accessible, ensuring that all visitors can utilize the main amenities.

- Firewood: While official rules prohibit gathering firewood on-site, a concession or store usually sells firewood, ice, and convenience items within the park.
The highlights of the Oak Point Campground area emphasize family fun, lake recreation, and community gathering opportunities.
- Lakeside Views: The utility sites are positioned across the road from the lake, offering great views of Farlington Lake. Primitive sites often line the shoreline.
- Playground and Family Fun: A dedicated playground is centrally located within the campground, often surrounded by the northern electric sites, making it a popular hub for families and children, hence the designation Good for kids.
- Swimming Beach Access: The park features a dedicated swimming beach that is easily accessible from the campground, providing a safe, enjoyable way to cool off during hot Kansas summers.
- Amphitheater: The amphitheater is located near the northern end of the campground, hosting seasonal campground programming, nature interpretations, and other community events throughout the summer months.
- Boating and Fishing: Guests have full access to the lake via two boat ramps and courtesy docks, making it easy to enjoy fishing for crappie, bass, and catfish, or engage in pleasure boating.
- Nature and Trails: The eastern border of the campground features a wooded area with hiking/biking trails and a dedicated bird watching area, offering opportunities to spot local wildlife like deer, raccoons, and a variety of colorful birds.

Oak Point Campground Reviews
Not sure why the state park decided to hire a guy with a truck with a with "I'd rather be Cummin' than strokin'" decal. Very unprofessional & embarrassing. Should have been fired.
June 20 · Riff DenbowBasic site 17 on the water was not bad and reasonably priced. Campground was pretty crowded with not much space between sites. Shower building not centrally located. Could not gather firewood either.
