Father’s Day Camping Trip Cut Short by Rude Staff and Inconsistent RulesAs a divorced dad spending Father’s Day weekend with my two young boys, I was hoping for a relaxing and memorable camping trip. Unfortunately, our experience at this campground was ruined by hostile staff, inconsistent rule enforcement, and a total lack of common sense. We arrived with my street-legal, state-plated Polaris RZR loaded on a trailer — not driven in — and hadn’t even set up our site before being approached by the campground director. He immediately told me I wasn’t allowed to have the RZR in the campground and insisted I park it a mile away at the boat launch, despite it being registered and treated just like any other legal vehicle under state law. I calmly explained this, but he was completely unwilling to listen or consider any logic. The next day, after using the RZR to meet friends and go fishing, I returned and explained the situation to a very kind and understanding woman at the front gate, who agreed it was reasonable to let me drive back to the site — especially since the RZR was loaded with valuable gear, tools, fishing equipment, and a large bag of ice. I was driving slowly, respectfully, and bothering no one. Then, midway through the campground, another staff member ran out yelling and completely overreacted in front of my kids, demanding that we pack up and leave. I managed to de-escalate things, but was still forced to move the RZR back to the distant parking lot.Meanwhile, plenty of campers were blasting music, singing karaoke at full volume, and ripping through the grounds on loud Harleys and diesel trucks — none of which seemed to bother staff in the slightest. I even asked about plated dirt bikes and was told they weren’t allowed either. The staff’s behavior was not only overbearing and inconsistent, it bordered on harassment. What should’ve been a special trip for me and my boys turned into a weekend of being targeted, hassled, and made to feel completely unwelcome. We were so fed up, we ended up cutting our trip short and leaving early — something no parent should have to do on Father’s Day.Unless this campground completely revamps its policies and staff training, I would strongly advise others — especially families — to look elsewhere. - Ryan Bennett
