North Fork Overflow Campground Introduce
Nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, North Fork Overflow Campground offers a serene and inviting retreat for anyone looking to connect with Idaho's stunning wilderness. This campground, situated near St Charles, is a true gem, providing a perfect balance of rustic charm and essential amenities. Whether you're pulling in with an RV or planning to pitch a tent, North Fork is an ideal destination for families, solo adventurers, and anyone who appreciates a clean, well-maintained space to relax and recharge. The "overflow" in its name suggests it's a bonus, a quieter alternative to more crowded sites, and this is exactly what makes it so special. It's a place where you can find solitude, enjoy the natural surroundings, and make lasting memories with friends and family.
North Fork Overflow Campground is conveniently located within the vast expanse of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, near the charming town of St Charles, Idaho. Its address on Forest Road 1149 places it perfectly for campers seeking to explore the renowned Bear Lake area without being caught in the thick of the tourist crowds. This location makes it easily accessible from many southeastern Idaho communities, including Soda Springs and Montpelier, as well as northern Utah. The drive to the campground, while on a forest road, is part of the adventure, guiding you deeper into the forested beauty of the region. The proximity to the Bear Lake area means that a day trip to enjoy water sports, fishing, or a scenic drive is always an option, giving you the best of both worlds: a peaceful forest retreat and access to one of Idaho's most famous natural attractions.
Accessibility is a key advantage of North Fork. The forest road leading to the campground is typically manageable for both RVs and cars, so you don't need a special vehicle to access this slice of paradise. The on-site parking at each campsite makes setting up your gear straightforward and convenient. However, it's worth noting, as a review mentions, that this tranquil location means there is no cell service. For many, this is a major highlight—a chance to truly unplug and be present. This deliberate disconnect from the digital world allows for a deeper connection with nature and your fellow campers.

What is worth choosing North Fork Overflow Campground?
Choosing a campground is about finding a place that aligns with your specific needs and desires for an outdoor adventure. North Fork Overflow Campground stands out for several compelling reasons, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of campers. The primary reason to choose this site is its unique combination of seclusion and convenience. It offers a true taste of the Idaho wilderness, far from the hustle and bustle, yet it provides enough essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The fact that it's a clean, well-maintained campground with helpful camp hosts, as highlighted by a visitor, makes a world of difference. The peace of mind that comes from knowing the facilities, like the restrooms, are clean and stocked is invaluable for a relaxing trip.
Furthermore, the affordability and accessibility of North Fork are major selling points. The sites are priced reasonably at $17 a night (as of a June 1st review), offering incredible value for the location and amenities. Its welcoming nature for both RV and tent campers, as well as its dog-friendly policy, makes it a highly inclusive destination. The lack of cell service, a feature that may seem like a drawback, is in reality one of the campground's greatest assets.
