North Beach Campground

Campground ★4.0

Unnamed Road, Levan, UT 84639, USA

4.0
It was super fun to go there for a few days to play in the water. It gets really busy on the weekends and some people aren’t considerate, but I don’t really count that against the campground. My dog also had a fun time, he got to work on his swimming skills. Water wasn’t too cold, but it does get windy so if you bring something like a canopy or an umbrella make sure to keep an eye on it. - Jodie Baum

North Beach Campground Introduce

For many Utah locals, a summer isn't complete without a trip to one of the state's beautiful reservoirs. North Beach Campground, located within Yuba State Park, is a celebrated destination for those who love to camp right by the water. Unlike traditional campgrounds with manicured sites, North Beach offers a unique and open beach camping experience. This is a place where the water is the main attraction, and the atmosphere is filled with the energy of families enjoying a day of fun and sun. While it can get quite busy on weekends, the lively and enjoyable environment is what makes it a favorite spot for so many. The feeling is one of shared joy and a collective appreciation for the unique opportunity to camp directly on a sandy shoreline, making it a perfect destination for those seeking a vibrant, water-oriented getaway.

The reviews from campers, particularly from families, highlight the fun and excitement that define a trip to North Beach. One camper noted, "It was super fun to go there for a few days to play in the water," while a young visitor's review enthusiastically listed a day of "Volleyball, I went tubing 4 times, then I went kayaking, then I went tubing by myself and I fed Goldfish Crackers to the Seagulls." This kind of authentic, uninhibited fun is at the core of the North Beach experience. It's a place where kids can be kids and adults can feel like kids again, with the endless activities that the lake provides. The fact that the campground is welcoming to dogs is a huge plus for many who consider their pets part of the family, providing a space for them to work on their "swimming skills."

North Beach Campground is a key part of Yuba State Park, located on an Unnamed Road in Levan, UT 84639. The most common access is from Highway 28, a well-maintained road that leads directly to the state park entrance. Its position on the northern side of Yuba Reservoir is a significant advantage for those coming from central Utah, making it a relatively convenient drive from major population centers. The campground’s accessibility is also a highlight for those with disabilities, as it features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, which ensures a more inclusive and welcoming experience for all visitors.

A defining feature of North Beach is its primitive camping model. There are no designated campsites; instead, a reservation grants you access to an open beach area where you can choose your own spot. This open, unscripted approach to camping is a huge draw for those who love flexibility. Additionally, the on-site parking is a major convenience, as you can park your vehicle directly on the beach near where you've set up your camp. This makes unloading and setting up gear incredibly easy, which is especially beneficial for families with lots of equipment for a weekend of water sports.

North Beach Campground offers essential services that are crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable stay on the beach.

  • Tent Sites: The campground is designed for tent camping and offers a unique beach camping experience. While it does not have designated, individual sites, it provides the perfect sandy location for pitching a tent right by the water.

  • Public Restrooms: The campground offers public restrooms, including vault toilets. While rustic and sometimes subject to heavy use on busy weekends, they provide a necessary amenity for campers.

  • Running Water: While primitive, there is running water available at a dump station for visitors to use, though it is recommended that campers bring their own drinking water to the beach area as there is none directly on the beach itself.

  • On-site Parking: This is a major convenience, allowing campers to park their vehicles on the beach near their camping spot, making it easy to unload and access gear.

  • Camping Fee: As with other state parks, there is a camping fee that helps with the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities.

  • Dogs Allowed: A huge plus for pet owners, dogs are welcome at North Beach, though they must be on a leash. This allows families to bring their furry friends along for the fun.

These services provide a functional basis for a great camping trip, with the real focus being on the natural amenities and activities the location provides.

The features and highlights of North Beach Campground are what truly set it apart as a premier Utah destination for water-loving families and adventurers.

  • Beachfront Camping: The ability to camp directly on a sandy beach is a rare and highly sought-after experience in Utah. The soft sand provides a comfortable base for your camp and a perfect playground for all ages.

  • Water Sports Paradise: Yuba Reservoir is known for its warm waters, making it ideal for a wide range of activities. Visitors can enjoy boating, tubing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming. The campground provides easy access to the water, allowing you to launch your own personal watercraft.

  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The campground is noted as being "good for kids," and the reviews confirm this. The wide-open beach and the availability of endless water activities make it a perfect environment for children to have a blast.

  • Pet-Friendly: The welcoming policy for dogs is a major highlight, as it allows for the entire family, including the four-legged members, to enjoy the trip.

  • Fishing Opportunities: Yuba Reservoir is a popular fishing spot for species like walleye, northern pike, trout, catfish, and yellow perch, providing another great recreational activity right at your fingertips.

These features combine to create an experience that is both active and relaxing, perfect for a memorable weekend getaway.
