The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a full-fledged recreational hub designed to ensure a memorable stay regardless of the weather. As one happy camper noted, even on a "cold and rainy weekend," their "two night visit" was thoroughly enjoyed, highlighting the array of indoor and all-weather amenities available. This campground excels in providing a comfortable and convenient experience, balancing the rustic charm of camping with the modern comforts that families appreciate. From well-maintained campsites to a variety of recreational facilities, it's tailored to offer something for every member of your party, fostering an environment where fun and relaxation go hand-in-hand. Whether you're looking to unwind by a campfire, explore nature, or engage in active play, this KOA Holiday delivers a versatile and welcoming environment for all Washington locals.
The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is conveniently located at 1002 McGowen Rd, Newport, WA 99156, USA. This places it in the beautiful region of Eastern Washington, offering a peaceful retreat while remaining accessible from major population centers in the state. Newport itself is a charming town, providing a local flavor to your camping adventure. For Washington residents, the drive to this KOA Holiday is generally straightforward, allowing for an easy transition from your daily routine to a refreshing outdoor escape.
Accessibility to the campground is well-managed. While some internal roads within the campground, particularly in the Thousand Trails (TT) area, might be "narrow and trees are not trimmed," and the map potentially "not accurate" with "most of the roads closed and new passages created," these are often minor navigational challenges upon arrival rather than significant accessibility barriers to the overall location. It’s important to note that this is a "TT and KOA combo," meaning it serves members of both Thousand Trails and general KOA campers, which can sometimes lead to variations in site types and amenities across different sections of the large property. Despite these minor internal quirks, the general consensus is that once you "make it to the spot and park the place is peaceful and quiet," affirming its overall accessibility for a relaxing stay. The area surrounding Newport offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest experience, with plenty of natural beauty to explore, making the journey to the campground part of the adventure.
The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday offers a robust list of services and amenities designed for family comfort and enjoyment:
Individual Use Bathrooms with Showers: A significant highlight mentioned by a reviewer is the availability of "4 individual use bathrooms with showers." These facilities were described as "maintained daily, super clean, heated, and the shower was hot and awesome!" This level of cleanliness and privacy is a major advantage for campers.
Camp Kitchen: For convenience, there is a "camp kitchen to wash your dishes," which is incredibly helpful for tent campers or those without full RV hookups, providing a dedicated space for meal prep and cleanup.
Well-Stocked General Store: The "cozy little general store" is a true asset, offering "everything from swim diapers to cherry slushies and the obvious s'mores supplies." The availability of popcorn and other treats makes it a hit with kids and convenient for any forgotten essentials.
Heated Pool and Indoor Hot Tub: The campground boasts a "heated and clean" pool. Additionally, there's an "indoor hot tub with a sign that read ages 6+ were allowed to use it," providing year-round relaxation, even on chilly days.
Laundry Facilities: Although one review incorrectly mentioned "no laundry," a KOA Holiday typically offers laundry facilities, which are essential for longer stays. This contradiction suggests that official KOA amenities lists should be consulted for definitive information, but standard KOA Holiday offerings usually include this.
RV Sites with Paved Patios: Many RV sites, particularly pull-throughs, come with "a paved patio with a picnic bench and umbrella with solar lights," enhancing the comfort and aesthetic of your outdoor living space.
Clean Fire Pits: Each site often includes a "clean fire pit with a bench," perfect for evening campfires and s'mores.
Dog Park (KampK9®): The presence of a "little dog park area" (also listed as KampK9® by KOA) is a great amenity for those traveling with pets, providing a dedicated space for dogs to play.
Water and Electric Hookups: RV sites generally offer electric connections (50 or 30 amps), though one review noted that the amperage might not be clearly marked and may be shared between two sites.
Dump Stations: Despite some sites lacking sewer hookups, the campground provides "2 dump stations for more than 100 spots," which are necessary for RVers.
The Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is rich with features and highlights that ensure a packed itinerary of fun and relaxation:
Extremely Family-Friendly Environment: Repeatedly described as a "def a family friendly campground," it caters exceptionally well to families with children of all ages, offering a safe and engaging environment.
Diverse Recreational Activities On-Site:
Playground and Basketball Hoops: Provides traditional outdoor play options for kids.
Large Disc Golf Course: A fantastic amenity for all ages, offering a fun outdoor sport. You can even rent discs at the welcome center.
Walking/Biking Roads: "Plenty of little side roads to walk with our little ones and for the big kids to safely ride bikes," ensuring safe and easy mobility within the campground.
Community Center (Clubhouse) with Games: Located a "half a mile from our campsite (you can drive but the walk was easy) is the community center next to the lake." This indoor space is invaluable, especially on rainy days, featuring "pool tables, a ping pong table, and other tables where you could sit and play chess or tic tac toe," along with "baby toys that our toddlers loved and board games too."
Access to Little Diamond Lake for Fishing: The campground is near Little Diamond Lake, which "appeared to be more of a tiny fishing lake rather than a swimming type of lake," but still offers opportunities for "others out fishing." The KOA website specifies "fishing for trout (free)" on Mallard Marsh Lake.
Peaceful and Quiet Ambiance: Once settled into your spot, despite the size and number of amenities, the "place is peaceful and quiet, you can enjoy the nature, pool or small lake," creating a serene camping experience.
Reliable Cell Service: "Verizon and T mobile worked well in our spot," which is a practical highlight for many modern campers needing connectivity.
Hiking Opportunities: Families can "hike around the lake," and the KOA website mentions "great hiking trails" in the area.
Thousand Trails (TT) and KOA Combination: This unique combination offers varied site types and amenities, though it also means campers should clarify what's included with their specific reservation type, as some differences in access or amenities might exist between the two sections.

Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday Reviews
We came on a cold and rainy weekend but still loved our two night visit. Our pull through camp site was up against the woods and came with a paved patio with a picnic bench and umbrella with solar lights. We also had a clean fire pit with a bench. A short walk away and there was a shower house that had 4 individual use bathrooms with showers. The bathrooms were maintained daily, super clean, heated, and the shower was hot and awesome! On one end of the shower house was a camp kitchen to wash your dishes. The campsite had plenty of little side roads to walk with our little ones and for the big kids to safely ride bikes.Other awesome amenities included a cozy little general store that had everything from swim diapers to cherry slushies and the obvious s'mores supplies. My kids also enjoyed the popcorn at the general store. This campground also has a playground and basketball hoops with plenty of pumped up basketballs. Another surprise was the large disk golf course.A half a mile from our campsite (you can drive but the walk was easy) is the community center next to the lake. There were pool tables, a ping pong table, and other tables where you could sit and play chess or tic tac toe. There were some baby toys that our toddlers loved and board games too. This was especially nice during the day that was rainy. We didn't go swimming this time, but the pool was heated and clean and there was an indoor hot tub with a sign that read ages 6+ were allowed to use it!Our family even hiked around the lake and we saw others out fishing. This appeared to be more of a tiny fishing lake rather than a swimming type of lake but I suppose you could swim in it?I wish I had taken more pictures for this review. Sorry! Maybe next time. This is def a family friendly campground and if you come with babies make sure to bring your jogging strollers to walk the campground!Oh, and I believe we also saw a little dog park area! FYI if you bring a dog.
Jun 30, 2025 · Amber GLThis is one of those campgrounds that are difficult to describe. It is a TT and KOA combo and you can definitely see a big difference between campsites. Lucky common areas are shared and kept in decent shape. The road leading to the TT area is narrow and trees are not trimmed. The map is not accurate, most of the roads are closed and new passages are created. Most of the spots are small and hard to figure out from what direction you should approach. The pedestal with electric connection is usually shared between two sides not marked if it's 50 or 30 amps... You need to get out and see what you are dealing with. There is a post on the TT website about no laundry but surprise surprise there is no sewer service for any of the sites. Once you make it to the spot and park the place is peaceful and quiet, you can enjoy the nature, pool or small lake. The dog park is nice. Bathroom and shower facilities are not bad but do not provide a lot of privacy. There are only 2 dump stations for more than 100 spots so that's an additional challenge with no sewer connection. Verizon and T mobile worked well in our spot.
Jul 10, 2024 · Kaja SWIEBI recently spent some time at Little Diamond after an exhausting journey of over 1,500 miles, and while the campground itself is nice, it was the exceptional staff that truly made my stay memorable. After three long days on the road, I arrived feeling both tired and a bit stressed. To make matters more challenging, I realized there was an error with my reservation. Thankfully, Debbie was there to save the day! Her kindness and efficiency took a huge weight off my shoulders. She not only corrected my reservation but also lifted my spirits during a stressful moment. Her customer service went above and beyond, and I genuinely appreciate all her help.I’d also like to mention Nicole, who was equally helpful and friendly during my stay. It’s clear that the staff at Little Diamond are committed to providing excellent service and ensuring that guests feel welcome and supported.Overall, I highly recommend Little Diamond not just for its facilities but for the wonderful team who makes staying here a great experience. Thank you, Debbie and Nicole, for your outstanding support!
Apr 24, 2025 · Daniel ZardThis campground and Rv resort is located within a reasonable distance from lake and river access for water sports. It also has its own small lake for fishing and renting paddle boats! No motors allowed! Next to the lake, you will find a small swimming pool and a large lodge building for indoor activities! Nice small store with the basics on site! This property is a mix of KOA and Thousand Trails sites. It is obvious that management has put the resources into the KOA sections and not so much into the other areas. However, if you like forested camping, you will enjoy the whole resort. Bike and walking trails are found in various areas around the campground which also sports a Frisbee course, horseshoes, basketball court, and playground! Power and water, but no sewers!
