What is worth choosing
Choosing Needles KOA Journey is an excellent decision for anyone seeking a reliable, convenient, and well-maintained stopover in the California desert. The park’s classification as a "KOA Journey" is a key indicator of its purpose: to provide a perfect oasis for travelers. For RVers, the long pull-through sites and full hookups (water, electric, and sewer) are a significant convenience, making a quick setup easy after a long day of driving. The sites are generally level, which is a relief for those who want to avoid the hassle of extensive leveling. The availability of clean, 24-hour laundry facilities is another major benefit, allowing travelers to refresh their clothes at any time.
The campground is also very welcoming to a wide range of visitors beyond just RVers. With dedicated tent sites and comfortable cabins, it’s a great option for any type of camper. The presence of a playground and a great dog park makes it a top choice for families and pet owners, ensuring that everyone in the party has a place to enjoy themselves. The dog run, in particular, is a well-thought-out amenity that shows a real commitment to being pet-friendly. Despite its location in the desert, the grounds are kept clean, and the presence of a pool offers a crucial and inviting way to escape the heat. While some traffic noise from the nearby highway is a factor, the benefit of its convenient location for an easy on and off access often makes it worthwhile. The friendly and accommodating staff, as highlighted by multiple guests, ensures that even the most fleeting visit is a pleasant one. In short, if you’re looking for a dependable, well-equipped, and welcoming campground to break up your journey or to serve as a base for local exploration, Needles KOA Journey is a highly recommended and solid choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This KOA is in the desert and shade is minimal, as would be expected. The grounds are well-kept and surrounded by huge oleanders with an occasional palm tree, gum tree or willow.Registration is in a cute store with varied tourist items. Postcards are still 3 for $1.00!The owner, Carla, is very pleasant with a warm heart toward cats. The dog run is 30’x40’, very clean and fenced well. Inside, there are two benches and a covered bench swing directly outside the fence. Poop bags and a trash can is provided. The dog area has horse shoe posts if that’s your game. The laundry room is clean and open 24 hours. The campsites are level and we didn’t need to level ours. Lampposts are spread throughout the RV areas. These provide sufficient lighting without glaring into RVs.We will certainly return on our next trip.
May 06 · Renee BoydI have stayed here several times. A convenient 1/2 way stop for an overnight to the next destination. However, the staff have been consistently abrupt, short of rude at check-in. Granted, it was 108°, but the office was air conditioned. The pull-through RV sites are somewhat level with very little shade. Many sites are for residents or long-term stays. Convenient location to highway, also means traffic noise. Will I be back, most likely not. Not convenient to downtown limited services.
July 04 · Dorothy LaageStayed at this KOA to visit the Burros in Oatman and on the way up to Las Vegas. Friendly staff, easy to manuver in park and pull thru site was perfect for our 40' Class A Rig that tows a 14' trailer and also a prius for our drive around car. Good price for KOA and what is around to explore. Not too far off the interstate, but far enough so no road noise. Did use the pool and seemed good. FHU site, all worked well and good location for our rig. One of the better KOA's I've stayed at for sure and great value for the price.
April 17 · GP WhispererFine campground for a one night stay. The staff is nice and the spots are level. The pool was very cold eventhough it seems to be always hot in Needles. The restrooms and showers were not great and need some work. Atleast put lockable doors in the showers instead of 2 shower curtains.
May 15 · NiekConvenient large pull through sites, helpful staff, large laundry room, small store/gift shop. Older KOA facility, but perfect for our one night stay while traveling through. We enjoyed breakfast at the Wagon Wheel restaurant just down the road on route 66 as well.
