Mountain Valley Campground Introduce
For us New Hampshire locals, the call of the wild is often accompanied by the roar of an ATV or the peaceful flow of a mountain river. Nestled in the heart of the Great North Woods, Mountain Valley Campground in Stark, NH, offers a truly authentic and accommodating outdoor experience that perfectly blends adventure with relaxation. If you’re an OHRV (Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle) enthusiast looking for direct access to trails, or simply a camper seeking a serene retreat with stunning views and friendly faces, this campground is a gem worth exploring.
Mountain Valley Campground isn't just a place to set up camp; it's a destination designed for those who want to immerse themselves in New Hampshire's rugged beauty. As one satisfied visitor shared, "Beautiful Campground. ATV/OHRV from site on grounds & in town. Short 15-minute drive to get to the main trails but we'll worth. Nighttime campfire in these mountains was therapeutic. Stars were AMAZING. We'll be back!!" This review encapsulates the essence of what makes this campground so special: its natural beauty, its accessibility for outdoor sports, and the unforgettable moments it provides under the clear New Hampshire sky.
The welcoming spirit of the owners is another consistent highlight. "The campground owners were extremely nice! They were very welcoming. They even have some small trails on their property to let us take my daughter riding her youth machine and exploring the property Trails," another camper noted. This personal touch and willingness to accommodate different needs speak volumes about the dedication to making every guest feel at home. Whether you're a seasoned RVer, a tent camper, or someone eager to explore the expansive OHRV trail system, Mountain Valley Campground offers a clean, friendly, and memorable base for your New Hampshire adventures.
Mountain Valley Campground is strategically located at 63 Meacham Rd, Stark, NH 03582, USA, placing it firmly in the "Great North Woods" region of New Hampshire. Stark, a small but well-known town, is a hub for outdoor recreation, making this campground an ideal base for exploring the vast wilderness of northern New Hampshire.
Accessibility to the campground is straightforward, especially for those familiar with navigating New Hampshire's scenic routes. While it offers a sense of seclusion, it's not so remote as to be difficult to reach. The reviews highlight its direct access for ATV/OHRV riding "from site on grounds & in town," meaning you can literally ride your machines from your campsite onto local connecting trails. For access to the larger, main trail systems, a "short 15-minute drive" is required, making it incredibly convenient for off-road enthusiasts to reach popular areas like Jericho State Park in Berlin or the extensive "Ride the Wilds" trail network.
The campground itself is situated on over a mile of the Upper Ammonoosuc River, and is just a half-mile from Christine Lake, further enhancing its natural appeal and providing opportunities for water-based activities. Its location within 1.25 miles of the Cohos Trail also makes it a great spot for hikers. This blend of remote beauty with practical access to both trails and nearby towns (like Groveton or Berlin, roughly 20 minutes away for more amenities) makes Mountain Valley Campground exceptionally well-suited for New Hampshire locals who value both adventure and convenience.
Camper Sites with Hookups: The campground offers sites for RVs and campers with water hookups and 30-amp electric plug-ins. While a review noted "no 50 amp" service, the 30-amp service is suitable for most RVs.
Tent Sites: Dedicated tent sites are available, many located along the scenic Upper Ammonoosuc River, each with a picnic table and fire ring.
New Bathhouse (2025 Update): The campground website explicitly states, "UPDATE 2025. We will have a NEW BATHHOUSE." This significant upgrade will enhance the comfort and convenience of all campers, addressing a common amenity need. Currently, there is a central hot shower and multiple Porta-Pottys.
On-Site Dump Station & Mobile Pickup Service: For RVers, there's a dump station available, along with a convenient mobile pickup service for waste.
Private ATV/OHRV Trails: The campground offers about a mile of "private trails on their property" suitable for "a child just learning how to ride an ATV" or for quick rides directly from your site.
Picnic Table & Fire Ring: Every campsite, whether for campers or tents, is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring for traditional camping enjoyment.
Seasonal Sites: Seasonal sites are available, indicating options for long-term campers looking to establish a regular base in the Great North Woods.
On-Site Store (Percy Lodge): Located across from the campground entrance, Percy Lodge offers essential items including "beer, wine, soda, snacks, and ice cream," adding convenience for campers.
ATV/OHRV Friendly: This is a major highlight. Campers can ride "directly out of this property on your ATV or side-by-side and hit some great trails," with local and in-town access. A "short 15-minute drive" connects to major trail systems like those in Milan, Gorham, Jericho State Park, and Pittsburg.
Stunning Mountain Views & Stargazing: The campground is described as "Beautiful Campground" with "Stars were AMAZING," providing a truly therapeutic and picturesque setting for nighttime campfires.
Extremely Friendly & Welcoming Owners: Consistently praised, the owners are described as "extremely nice" and "very welcoming," enhancing the overall camping experience with their genuine hospitality.
Spacious Sites: Camper sites are noted as being "at least 35 feet away from any other site providing plenty of room for your awning and outdoor living," offering a good sense of privacy.
River Access: The campground spans over a mile of the Upper Ammonoosuc River, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing (with a valid NH license). Tent sites are often located along the river.
Proximity to Hiking Trails: Located within 1.25 miles of the Cohos Trail and close to other day hike trailheads, it's ideal for hikers.
Nearby Scenic Lookout: As mentioned by a reviewer, "There’s one great lookout right down the road from this facility," offering easy access to breathtaking vistas.
Pet Friendly: While not explicitly stated in the provided reviews, some search results indicate it is a pet-friendly campground.
Based on the provided information, Mountain Valley Campground focuses on providing consistent value through its amenities and prime location, rather than explicit "promotions" in the traditional sense. However, they do offer structured rates and opportunities that can be beneficial for local campers:
Seasonal Sites Available: The campground explicitly promotes that "We have Seasonal Sites Available for the 2025 Season." This is a significant offer for New Hampshire residents looking for a dedicated base throughout the camping season, often providing better value than nightly or weekly rates.
Daily, Holiday, and Weekly Rates: Their published rates offer flexibility for various stay durations, allowing campers to choose the option that best fits their schedule and budget.
Focus on Value through Experience: The "therapeutic" campfires, "amazing" stars, and direct access to recreational opportunities are the primary "offers" here – experiences that are invaluable to many campers and often outweigh simple monetary discounts.
For the most current pricing, seasonal availability, and any potential package deals, it is always recommended to contact Mountain Valley Campground directly. Their friendly owners would be the best resource for detailed information.
