Mohawk Camp Ground is conveniently located at 756 W 375 N, Greenfield, IN 46140, USA. This address places it just outside the main hub of Greenfield, a rapidly growing community in Hancock County, Indiana. Its proximity to town is a significant advantage, as the campground is situated just 15 minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and other essential amenities. This allows campers to easily resupply, grab a meal, or access anything they might need without having to drive long distances.
Greenfield's location along I-70 makes Mohawk Camp Ground highly accessible for residents coming from Indianapolis and other major cities across Indiana. While there might be some "light traffic noise from the nearby main road" at night, as noted in reviews, this is often a trade-off for the exceptional convenience. The ease of access, combined with its country setting that still offers "good view of the land and growing crops" under "big ol trees," strikes a desirable balance for those seeking a local camping experience that isn't too remote.
Mohawk Camp Ground focuses on providing essential services for a practical and enjoyable camping experience, catering to both RVs and tent campers with a no-frills approach.
RV Sites: The campground primarily caters to RVs, with many sites appearing to be occupied by long-term residents. While specific hookup details (e.g., full hookups for water, electricity, sewer) are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the presence of many long-term RVs suggests that necessary connections are available for comfortable extended stays. Availability for short-term RV spots may be limited due to long-term occupancy.
Tent Camping Area: A dedicated "separate grassy area shaded by mature trees" is provided specifically for tent campers. Each tent site includes a fire pit and a smaller grill-equipped pit for cooking, allowing for traditional campfire experiences.
Restroom and Shower Facility: A single restroom and shower facility is centrally located within the RV section for use by all campers. While functional, reviews indicate there have been "some issues with the restrooms and showers" and guests should manage expectations for these facilities.
Firewood Sales: For the convenience of campers, firewood is available for purchase directly from the owner, who will bring it right to your site. This eliminates the need to transport wood yourself.
Reasonable Rates: Tent camping rates are described as "reasonable," making it an affordable option for a quick, local camping experience.
On-Site Management: The presence of an owner who is "personable and humorous" and provides direct assistance (like bringing firewood) suggests a hands-on management style that enhances the friendly atmosphere.
Mohawk Camp Ground, despite its "no-frills" nature, offers several distinct features and highlights that contribute to its appeal for a specific type of camper in Indiana:
Convenient Local Access: Its prime location "near town" and "just 15 minutes from grocery stores and restaurants" is a major highlight. This convenience allows for easy resupply and access to local amenities, making it ideal for those who want a camping experience without being completely isolated.
Friendly and Personable Ownership: Multiple reviews emphasize the "easy camp experience" due to the "personable and humorous" owner who makes campers "feel like I called the right place from the start." This friendly, welcoming attitude significantly enhances the overall atmosphere.
Community Feel: The presence of "a small community of people" and "many of the residents were friendly and helpful" creates a unique, neighborly environment. This offers a different kind of camping experience compared to more transient public campgrounds.
Dedicated Tent Camping Area: The separate, shaded grassy area for tent campers, complete with fire pits and cooking grills, is a thoughtful provision. It ensures tent campers have their own dedicated space amidst the predominantly RV-focused campground.
Adjacent Goat Farm: An "unexpected highlight" is the adjacent goat farm with "four friendly goats that welcomed visits and gentle pets from children." This unique, charming feature adds a memorable, family-friendly element to the stay.
Open Fields and Playground: Families will appreciate the "open fields and a playground where kids can burn off energy." This provides essential space for children to play and explore in a relatively safe environment.
Rustic Charm and Country Setting: The campground offers a "country setting" with "tent spaces overlook a good view of the land and growing crops, right under some big ol trees." This provides a pleasant, natural backdrop for a relaxed stay.
Suitability for "No Fuss" Camping: The campground is explicitly described as "perfect for a quick, local camping experience" and "the place for those seeking a no fuss camp spot," highlighting its appeal for those who prioritize simplicity and ease over extensive amenities or remote wilderness.

For Hoosiers seeking a convenient, no-frills, and genuinely friendly camping experience without venturing far from home, Mohawk Camp Ground in Greenfield offers an excellent local option. It perfectly caters to a specific niche within the Indiana camping scene, making it highly suitable for residents for several key reasons.
Firstly, its "convenient" location just 15 minutes from Greenfield's grocery stores and restaurants is a major draw. For many Indiana families and individuals, the thought of a camping trip is appealing, but the logistics of being completely isolated from amenities can be daunting. Mohawk Camp Ground bridges this gap, allowing for a relaxed outdoor experience with the comfort of knowing that supplies and services are just a short drive away. This makes it ideal for impromptu weekend getaways or for those who prefer not to "rough it" too much.
Secondly, the standout feature of this campground is undoubtedly its welcoming and personable ownership. The "personable and humorous" owner, who makes you "feel like I called the right place from the start," fosters a sense of community and ease that is often hard to find. This local touch creates a friendly atmosphere where many residents, both short-term and long-term, feel comfortable and at home. For Hoosiers who value genuine hospitality, this aspect alone makes Mohawk Camp Ground a highly appealing choice.
Moreover, the distinct separation of tent camping in a "grassy area shaded by mature trees" ensures that tenters have their own space, complete with essential fire pits and grills. While the RV section has a more permanent feel, the tent area still provides that classic campfire experience under the open sky. The unexpected delight of friendly goats nearby adds a unique, family-friendly charm that sets it apart from more conventional campgrounds.
Finally, the consensus that this is "perfect for a quick, local camping experience" and a "no fuss camp spot" accurately defines its suitability. It’s not trying to be a remote wilderness outpost, nor a sprawling resort. Instead, it embraces its role as an accessible, friendly, and straightforward place to enjoy the outdoors. For Hoosiers looking for a hassle-free, comfortable camping trip close to home, perhaps for a night or two of relaxation or a simple family outing, Mohawk Camp Ground is an ideal and highly recommended local gem.

May 28, 2025 · Julina StoutListen. I had no idea what I was getting myself in to when I called to see if they had a spot for my tent. All of the other areas were full and I just wanted to pop a tent and maybe have a fire for a couple nights. The owner made me feel like I called the right place from the start. Personable and humorous.Reasonable rates for tent camping (mostly full for RV sites since a lot of people live year round or have their campers there.) Small community of people and everyone I've met it so far is real & down to earth. Sad I don't have a golf cart because there's totally a trail to ride it on lol country setting, tent spaces overlook a good view of the land and growing crops, right under some big ol trees. Picnic table and fire pit. You can purchase wood from the owner and she brings it right to you. If you're looking for a no fuss camp spot, come here.I'll definitely come back when i just wanna pop a tent again

Jun 22, 2025 · Sandra SmithThis is a wonderful place to camp right off of I-70. You'd never guess it's so close to the highway. It's tucked away, surrounded by beautiful IN cornfields and forests. It has everything you need and the owner is very friendly. The other campers were also friendly as well. Would recommend, will be back!
