Meramec State Park Campgrounds Reviews
What a HORRIBLE experience! I wish I could give zero stars. I called a few days ago to reserved a campsite for a whole week. I let the nice lady on the phone know I have a 35 foot 5th wheel camper. I was assured I'd have no problem camping in campsite #68 because the pad was more than 55 feet long. When I arrived I found two trees and a post right at the entrance to the campsite. Directly across from the campsite, right where I needed to drive to back into my assigned spot, was another post. I tried removing the badly placed posts, but they wouldn't budge. I tried also to drive over the grass to maneuver into the campsite, but the ground was too soft. There was no way to get my camper into that campsite, so I called the customer support phone number that I received with the reservation confirmation email. After being repeatedly put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told there was nothing they could do and that I'd have to call another number to speak with someone local. Someone local is who I should have spoken to from the start, because the people answering the reservation line obviously have no information about what can fit at each campsite. My frustration level was already maxed out, so I just requested a cancellation. Even though I had to cancel through no fault of my own, I was still charged a cancellation fee. I'll never stay at another Missouri State Park again.
Apr 18, 2025 · Lonnie HuffmanIf you are looking for very nice old wood furniture, this is definitely the place to look. Prices are reasonable for the quality of what you are getting. Things are clean and not even dusty. Laid out well so you can get around to look at things. Only negative was the owner was not very friendly.
Apr 11, 2025 · Sharon CrockerVery large and beautiful area. Lots of trails and plenty of picnic space and playgrounds. Enjoyed it being not busy at all with beautiful weather in March. Camp host was nice and was driving around frequently.
Mar 13, 2025 · Amy ByersIndeed, what others say about curfew and basic enforcement are true. Loud conversations, music, and people deciding to drive God knows where late at night are just a few problems. The only reason it got a second star is because the people next to us who showed up at 10:30pm didn't know how to operate a tiki torch and ended up lighting the whole thing on fire. So, there was at least a show. Oh yeah, it's in a flood plain, so the first site we attempted to use, had a pool for a fireplace. Stay elsewhere.
Jun 14, 2025 · Duke NukemA large group of unfriendly, very belligerently drunken men were camping right next to us at Merman campgrounds this weekend. They blared obnoxious music through a speaker until about 2 a.m. while drinking and screaming obscenities even farther into the night. There were no rangers or anyone at the campgrounds to ask for help at all. We barely slept all night. The next morning we were finally able to get in touch with the supervisors of the campground but the group was only asked to keep it down, not told to leave. We couldn't stand another night of being stressed and sleepless so we left.I find it pretty unfair that we were being quiet and respectful to others yet we had to be the ones to leave the site we had paid for because people who were being extremely disrespectful to everyone there were allowed to stay. Their dog was not on a leash, they were chasing the local wildlife, drinking and partying all night and picking loud fights with each other right by our tent area. They disturbed us and everyone else in the area way past the posted quiet hours. We felt beyond uncomfortable to the point of not knowing if we were safe. Needless to say, we will not be back. Very disappointing.
