McFarland Park Campground Reviews
Nice campground. It’s not 5 star by any means but it is functional as a place to park your camper with full hook ups. However, the sewer, water and electric are oddly placed in relation to the actual campsite. Water pressure good, electric tests ok with our surge protector. No cable. They do offer WiFi upgrade, I think it is just a hotspot. The bathhouse is so old and out of date we didn’t use it at all. Time for updating years ago. Camp host said updating is in the plans. Nice little playground and pavilion with fire place in the campground area. Our site, 108 seems to be the lowest elevation in the park and and water after rains is 6 inches deep at the water hydrant and sewer drain. Camp hosts and employees super friendly and helpful. Again, we will visit and stay again. Park was quiet after quiet hours and we slept ok.
May 26, 2025 · Clay MBeautiful park and location.Rules have changed recently.Online reservations only, no longer first come, first served.Tent camping is no longer allowed other than having a tent for children at your site with your RV.Some have asked why tent camping was stopped. The only answer I have (unofficially) is that there were more and more problems with homeless people. I witnessed this first hand. The campground does need some work. The powers that be have been promising to do a complete makeover, but it that remains to be seen.I live locally and enjoy camping here.I recommend this campground.
Jun 12, 2024 · Jerry ClemonsGreat campground. Spaced ok. Bathrooms need TLC. Laundry needs TLC. Management allows 20 day stays with 2 days out then another 20 days. The homeless are abusing the system. Good luck getting a spot during high season. It's first come, first serve.
Apr 24, 2023 · Bryan B.You have a river behind and in front. First come first served. Lots are spacious with stone picnic tables. We enjoyed being by the river. The campground does shut down the gate after 11pm without anyone managing it which sucks otherwise of have given it a 5 star.
Oct 27, 2022 · Victor AlmeidaNothing on the website/ brochure/ camp ground signage said that Primitive Camping is no longer available throughout the entire park. So when I arrived at dusk on a Sunday night after a long 12 hour drive, I set up camp. We built a fire, ate a meal, and went to bed. 1030 a trooper woke us from our sleep with blaring lights and through a speaker told us to “abandon our post. “ Who says that, nerd?Update your signs! The website said the camp office was open til 8. We got there at 7. No one was around. And what respectable camp site does NOT have tent camping? You have ALL of that river real estate and no one can use it. Like me, who is touring this great nation and the park can’t provide me a place just because I don’t have a CAMPER. SHAME!
