Y'all don't even visit this place, ok. It is literally the perfect camping spot for a weekend getaway, and I don't want it to be packed when I go back.I'm not going to tell you about the small beach, the fishing, the stars, the trails, the boating, the peace, or the beauty of nature.I'll just tell you that the bathrooms are straight-up filled with spiders. My wife and daughter used a pop-up poo tent. That's how many spiders. Like, so many you guys. Oh, and no cell service with Verizon. And I'm STILL GIVING IT 5 STARS. - Ron Young

Introduction / Overview

Marathon Campground, situated near Lake, MS, within the beautiful Bienville National Forest, is often described by its ardent fans as the "perfect camping spot for a weekend getaway." It's a place so beloved, in fact, that some locals humorously wish to keep it a secret to preserve its peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere. This quiet campground offers a truly secluded experience, nestled in a heavily wooded area that surrounds the tranquil 50-acre Marathon Lake.

The campground provides a serene environment where the sounds of nature prevail. Visitors can look forward to a small, inviting beach area, excellent fishing opportunities in a lake stocked with catfish, bass, and crappie, and miles of trails waiting to be explored. The nights are often filled with the brilliance of countless stars, a stark contrast to city lights.
