Due to its location, a part of the experience involves embracing the elements, especially during the winter months. Visitors should be aware that winter access may require a walk of about a quarter mile through the snow to reach the cabin, a small adventure in itself that adds to the rustic charm. The services offered at Malad Summit Guard Station are tailored to provide a comfortable and self-sufficient stay. While it's not a full-service resort, it provides the essential amenities that make a rustic getaway enjoyable. The primary offering is the guard station itself, which acts as a small, cozy cabin. It is particularly well-suited for groups and youth organizations looking for a warm place to stay during the winter. Key services and amenities available include:
RV electric hookup, making it a great option for RV campers who want to spend time in a more natural setting while still having access to power.

The cabin itself comes equipped with a stove, a refrigerator, and an electric heater, providing essential comforts for cooking and staying warm. While the heater is functional, guests often bring an additional portable electric heater for extra warmth, especially on colder nights.
Although there is no running water, this is communicated to guests in advance, so they can be prepared for their stay. This is a small part of the authentic, rugged experience offered here.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Friends and I rented it for a weekend getaway over Thanksgiving. It snowed the first night so it was a beautiful winter forest for us. There was no running, we were informed prior so it was no problem. There was electricity, a fridge, a stove and a heater. The heater isn't great but we were prepared. We got wood in Malad and brought a portable electric heater. The restroom is shown in the photos and was clean. It is dog friendly. The creek is shallow but was enjoyed for mini cold plunges. Great getaway!
November 26 · Kenn EdwardsGreat small cabin that you can stay in year round except for when the forest service is using it. It is not a nice caben like in island park or bear lake, but it sure is warmer then outside. It is great for youth groups to be able to camp in the winter time. It has no running water in the winter. And there is no indoor bathroom, you have to use an outhouse. In the winter you have to walk through the snow for about a quarter mile to get to the cabin.
January 26 · Josh LarkinWent up there end of June 2023. Fridge and stove were both working great. It was clean and tidy. No problems with the shower, water heater, or any other amenities. Just lots of mosquitoes.
