What is worth choosing
Choosing Madison River Campground is all about embracing the authentic Montana outdoor lifestyle. It’s not a glamping resort; it’s a genuine camping experience designed for those who appreciate the raw beauty of nature with just the right amount of comfort. What makes this campground truly special is its unparalleled location. Being right on the Madison River means you can wake up, grab your fishing gear, and be casting a line within minutes. The convenience of having water taps readily available is a small but significant detail that greatly enhances the camping experience, saving you time and effort. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of larger commercial campgrounds, its focus on the essentials—a clean place to stay, running water, and a spectacular natural setting—is what sets it apart.
For anglers, it is a no-brainer. The easy fishing access is a primary reason to choose this spot. The serene, riverside campsites offer a perfect backdrop for a relaxing trip. The campground also stands out for its welcoming policy towards dogs, making it a great option for pet owners who want to share their adventures with their four-legged companions. While some reviews mention the presence of biting flies, this is a common part of the summer season in many parts of Montana and a small trade-off for the stunning scenery and tranquility. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Right near the river, but not a great area for kids to swim. Rocks were slippery and not that many slow spots. Campsites were beautiful, though. We did run into some biting flies during the heat of the day. Definitely great spot for fly fishers. No dumps or electricity.
July 22 · David Ramosoffered a pleasant camping experience with convenient amenities. The fishing access within walking distance was a definite plus for anglers like myself. Having water taps readily available was also appreciated, as it saved us the hassle of carrying water from afar. The latrine, while basic, was clean and serviceable.
August 19 · Cody PowellWe had a great time spending the weekend at Madison River Campground. You are so close to world class fishing on the Madison, minutes away from Quake Lake visitor center, Wade/Cliff lake are nearby, and the entrance to Yellowstone National Park is within 30-45 minutes. Due to its location, most times there will be at least a breeze if not more.
June 27 · Jared MontgomeryBeautiful location. Very close to the river. You can walk and fish half a mile in each direction along the river. I took my 32 foot camper and my generator. Very positive experience and i will be back!
July 05 · John KimbrellGreat campground, clean toilets and enough privacy between sites. Easy walk to the river for fishing. There was a bit of road noise from the highway on the other side of the river. We would/will stay there again.
