Lost Acres Camping Resort

Campground, RV park ★3.0

3148 N 400 E, Monticello, IN 47960, USA

3.0
We are a family with children. We had a lot here for one summer. Yes, the campground is nice. But there's mostly older people here and the main activity is drinking and playing bags for money. This isn't what I'd consider to be a family friendly campground. The activities should be family friendly. Not to mention management at the time was bad. Her name was Shara and she was rude and nasty. If you read reviews you'll see that management changes frequently and never seems to be good. - Jillian W

Lost Acres Camping Resort Introduce

Hello, fellow Hoosiers! If you’re in search of a camping destination that offers a blend of natural charm and a variety of activities for the whole family, you might want to consider Lost Acres Camping Resort in Monticello. This campground and RV park is a popular spot for both short-term getaways and extended stays, providing a range of services designed to make your time outdoors as comfortable as possible. It is a place that aims to cater to a diverse clientele, from families with young children to long-term campers. The park's amenities and services are set up to provide a convenient and enjoyable experience, offering full hookups and on-site facilities that many campers look for. While its history of management has seen some ups and downs, recent reviews suggest that the current team is making a strong effort to improve the experience for everyone. This dedication to positive change is a reassuring sign for anyone planning a visit. The resort's layout provides areas for various activities, ensuring that there's something to do whether you're looking for a peaceful afternoon or an engaging group activity. The presence of a dog park and a playground for kids highlights the resort's commitment to being a welcoming place for all members of the family, including the four-legged ones. It is a destination that promises the simple joys of camping—a fire pit, a night under the stars, and the chance to connect with loved ones—with the added bonus of modern conveniences. The overall atmosphere can be subject to change depending on the time of year and the specific group of campers present, but the physical amenities and the effort of the new management seem to be creating a positive experience for many. It is a great example of a local business that is actively working to build a better reputation and a more enjoyable environment for its community of visitors.

The reviews for Lost Acres Camping Resort present a contrasting picture, which is important for prospective visitors to consider. One family with children expressed disappointment, stating that the main activities were "drinking and playing bags for money," and that the environment wasn't what they considered "family friendly." This review also highlighted a negative experience with a previous manager named Shara, describing her as "rude and nasty." This feedback points to past issues with management and a need for the resort to define its identity more clearly. However, a more recent review from a family staying for an extended period paints a very different and positive picture. This family, who had been there for "2 going on 3 months," reported that they "have loved it" and that the "management is great." They praised the current management for being attentive, noting that they "stay on top of things" and drive around "checking things several times a day." This kind of visible and proactive management is a huge asset. The positive review also mentioned the availability of "awesome" areas for kids to play and a schedule of "crafts and activities for the kids regularly," with a "super sweet and amazing" activities director. This shows a clear shift towards being a more family-friendly destination, as requested by the first reviewer. The only downside mentioned in the recent review was a single-lane entrance and exit, which can get "pretty backed up" on busy days. This is a minor logistical issue that the reviewer suggested could be a future upgrade. The presence of a dog park is also a huge highlight for pet owners, providing a dedicated space for their animals to play. The contrasting reviews likely reflect a change in management, and the more recent feedback suggests that the resort is on an upward trajectory. For those considering a visit, it's wise to contact the resort directly to inquire about the current activities and management. The fact that the resort has a new, dedicated team that is actively working to make it a better place for families and long-term campers is a significant point in its favor. This commitment to improvement, as evidenced by the positive changes in scheduled activities and management style, makes it a more appealing option for a wider range of campers. It is a place that seems to be evolving, and the current state appears to be much more positive than its past reputation might suggest.
