What is worth choosing
Long Shoal Campground is an excellent choice for a camping trip in Missouri, primarily due to its unbeatable location on Truman Lake and its comprehensive set of amenities. For locals, the convenience of having a well-equipped campground so close to home is a major plus. The campground caters to a wide variety of campers, from those with large RVs requiring full hookups to families with children and even pet owners. This versatility ensures that everyone in your group can have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The availability of RV electric and water hookups is a significant convenience that makes camping more accessible and less of a chore.
While a review noted a lack of shade at a specific site, which is a consideration for hot Missouri summer days, this also means that many sites offer an open view of the beautiful lake. The trade-off for a sunny site can be a stunning vista, and the campground's proximity to the water allows for cooling off with a quick dip. The positive reviews consistently highlight the cleanliness and excellent maintenance of the facilities, especially the bathrooms and showers, which are often a point of concern for campers. The presence of a playground makes it a truly family-friendly destination, and the fact that dogs are allowed means the entire family can enjoy the trip together. Long Shoal Campground is a reliable, well-rounded choice that promises a great experience. It’s a place where you can easily park your RV, set up camp, and immediately start enjoying all the recreational activities that our beautiful state has to offer, making it a top contender for your next Missouri outdoor adventure.

May 22 · Darla AllredNice clean spot but on the reservation site said spot number 068 is shaded but way far from that and with the. Real feel temperature at 102 degrees wasn't able to sit outside until late evening
July 19 · Carlos DominguezVery nice campground for tent camping and RVs. Clean bathouse w hot showers and laundry. Sites are close to the water for fishing. Pretty views of Truman lake & it's great location makes this place fantastic! This was my 5th time staying here. Basic site under $20.
June 18 · Wanderlust OneThis was definitely worth the drive. We were meeting up with a few other campers. There wasn’t anyone at the booth when we arrived a little before 4pm, but the sign had instructions on early check-Ins. Basically, if there isn’t someone still in your spot, you can check in early. Otherwise, check in is at 6pm.My only real complaint here was the lack of signage on each loop. We pulled in to the first loop looking for our spots (040, 043, & 045) but the first loop wasn’t ours. Pulled into the next loop and found them. Other than the pole markers at each individual spot, there’s no signs telling you which numbers are down each loop. Better signage would prevent confusion in the future. Our trailer sizes were from 33’ to about 40’. Each of us were able to back our campers in with ease and no obstructions. Most spots are fairly level but are gravel so some require additional leveling than others. There aren’t a lot of electric hookup spots here and I believe all are 30amp. There are no water hookups but there is a fill station and water spouts located in various parts of the grounds. The grounds were very well kept! Lawns were mowed but there was still enough trees and natural landscaping that keeps the “camping” feel alive. If you’re lucky enough to get a water view, the views are stunning. This isn’t an overpopulated lake, so you’re looking at a pristine glass-like lake surface in the mornings. Absolutely beautiful. The beach is really large! Not a lot of shade but nothing that a beach umbrella or canopy wouldn’t fix.The ramp (if you’re dropping in) is easy to find and well marked. Parking is plentiful for boat trailers.Marina Restaurant :We always bring plenty of food when camping but some friends suggested that we try out the Long Shoal Marina restaurant. Our first night here we had heard they were doing a seafood buffet special so we tried it out. The parking is a little ways from the restaurant but there is also closer parking for disabled and people over 65. My kids enjoyed the walk down the bridge anyway. The facility is well kept, clean, and the staff is friendly. For the buffet, they required that you sanitize hands and then place food service gloves on before handling serving utensils (sanitizer and gloves are provided). If buffet isn’t your thing, they also have a regular menu (see menu pictures). There is also a selection of alcoholic drinks available. The indoor/outdoor seating options are a really nice touch! We enjoyed the buffet and my kids enjoyed mini corn dogs and fries. Everyone was pleased with their food.Marina store: within the same building as the restaurant, there’s a small store with various items for sale. We’ve already talked about booking future spots here. This is now in my top three favorite camping locations. Well done, Long Shoal!
August 22 · Kris HandA lot of spots right on the lake with great views! Decent showers. Nice and peaceful.
