Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort is situated at 19609 Riley Harmony Rd, Marengo, IL 60152, USA. Marengo is a city in McHenry County, Illinois, strategically positioned between the major metropolitan areas of Chicago to the east and Rockford to the west. This location provides a balance of peaceful, rural surroundings with convenient access to urban amenities and attractions.
The accessibility of Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort is a notable advantage for campers across Illinois and beyond. It is located just off Interstate I-90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) at the Hampshire exit, making it exceptionally easy for RVers to access directly from a major highway. This simplifies travel, especially for those with larger rigs, as it minimizes the need to navigate complex local roads.
Its proximity to I-90 means that Chicago's vast array of cultural, dining, and entertainment options are within approximately an hour's drive, allowing campers to enjoy both a natural retreat and city excursions. Similarly, Rockford, with its own attractions and services, is also easily reachable. This strategic placement offers campers the flexibility to explore a wide area of Northern Illinois, from the quiet charm of small towns to the vibrant energy of major cities. While the convenience of being near a major highway is great for travel, some past guests have noted ambient traffic sounds. However, for those prioritizing ease of access and a central location for regional exploration, Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort's address in Marengo is highly favorable.
Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort primarily focuses on providing RV sites for various lengths of stay. Based on their advertised offerings and customer insights, here are some of the services you can typically expect:
- RV Sites: The resort offers a mix of pull-through and back-in sites designed for RVs. They advertise sites ranging from 70 to 100 feet long.
- Full Hookups: Many sites are equipped with full hookups, including 30/50 Amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. Some sites may also offer cable TV connections.
- Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly Rates: Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort caters to various needs, offering flexible rental periods from short overnight stays to extended seasonal or annual residency.
- Laundry Facilities: There is a coin laundry facility on-site, providing a convenient option for residents and guests to do their washing. Some reports indicate this is open 24 hours.
- LP Gas and Ice: The resort typically provides LP gas refills and ice for sale, essential amenities for RV travelers.
- Camp Store: A camp store is advertised, which may offer various items campers might need during their stay. However, past reviews suggest inventory can be limited.
- Security Gate: The presence of a security gate helps control access to the park, enhancing safety and privacy for residents.
- Planned Summer Activities: The resort advertises planned summer activities, suggesting a focus on community engagement and organized recreation during peak season.
- On-site Restrooms and Showers: Public restrooms and shower facilities are available for guests. Past reviews suggest varying levels of maintenance and features like hooks within shower stalls.
- WiFi and Cable TV (Claimed): The resort advertises free WiFi in the park and free cable TV. However, multiple customer reviews indicate issues with signal strength and functionality for both.
- Propane Filling Station: An on-site propane filling station adds convenience for RVers.
Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort offers several features and highlights that aim to enhance the camping experience, though customer experiences vary:
- Lakeside Setting: The "Lakeside" in its name refers to an 8-acre lake with a mile of canals attached, reportedly offering opportunities for free fishing (no license required for guests), swimming at a sanded beach, and free use of paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, and rowboats. This natural water feature is a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts.
- Newer Pull-Through Sites: The resort has been working on adding new pull-through sites that are longer (70-100 feet) with 30/50 Amp electric and water, with some including sewer and cable TV, indicating an effort to upgrade facilities.
- Pet-Friendly: Pets are generally welcome, though they must be kept on a leash, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them. There is also a fenced-in dog run area.
- Playground for Kids: A playground is available for children, contributing to the family-friendly atmosphere.
- Air Conditioned Rec Hall: An air-conditioned recreation hall provides a comfortable indoor space for gatherings or activities.
- Picnic Tables and Fire Rings: Most sites are expected to include picnic tables and fire rings, essential for traditional camping enjoyment. Campfires are allowed only in enclosed fire rings, and firewood must be purchased from the office due to county ordinance.
- Security Patrols (Reported): Some long-term residents have reported patrolling at all hours for security, indicating an effort to maintain safety.
- Flexible Stays: The availability of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly rates caters to a wide range of camping needs, from short getaways to long-term residency.
It's important to note that while these features are advertised, recent customer reviews highlight significant inconsistencies in maintenance, staff responsiveness, and the actual functionality of amenities like Wi-Fi and cable TV. Reports of potholes on roads, issues with water quality (smell and staining), and challenges with trash disposal (lack of on-site trash cans) are recurring themes in negative feedback. Potential visitors should consider checking recent, diverse reviews to set appropriate expectations.

Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort presents itself as an option for Illinois locals seeking an RV camping experience with both short-term and extended stay possibilities. Its location in Marengo, with easy access to I-90, makes it particularly convenient for residents of Northern Illinois, including the greater Chicagoland area and Rockford, who are looking for a nearby escape without venturing too far. The promise of lakeside activities, including swimming, fishing, and boating, offers a distinct appeal for families and individuals who enjoy water-based recreation.
For those considering extended stays, the availability of monthly and yearly rates, combined with full hookup sites, could make it a practical choice for seasonal residents or remote workers seeking a stable base. The presence of a laundry facility, planned activities, and a playground suggests an attempt to create a community atmosphere suitable for families.
However, prospective visitors, especially locals who value quality and reliable amenities, should carefully manage their expectations and conduct thorough research by reviewing the most current feedback. While the resort's advertised features suggest a comfortable and engaging camping environment, recent customer experiences highlight significant challenges with maintenance, utility quality, and staff responsiveness. For Illinois residents, the decision to stay at Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort should weigh its convenient location and advertised amenities against the mixed feedback regarding its current condition and operational practices.

Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort Reviews
First of all, in my opinion, this place is a DUMP. It should not be allowed to have the word “resort” in its name. One must assume that the 5 star ratings are staff, family, friends, and the transients that live there full-time.Our experience in our very short, and very expensive stay, literally the most expensive place in all our almost 20 years of traveling for work in an RV. $1680/mo - for an absolutely awful lot, and ignorant staff. The roads are filled with pot holes that you couldlose half a car in, and there’s the nut in the mini cooper who “patrols” the park with his dog, and screams at people. He circled our camper staring us down, at least 6 times while we were setting up.The water smells like a rotten egg fart, and everything is left with a rusty stain. Our water filters were completely clogged after 1 week.Initially, we were told that we would get an $800 plus electric monthly spot, and that changed to $420/week. We also had to pay the full weekly rent to hold our spot until we arrived. We were told by a “resident” that we were indeed in the monthly lots, even though the office employee told us there were none available. You can only pay cash or check, the IRS should definitely audit this “establishment.”The final straw was my husband’s truck being vandalized and the center caps being stolen off my car. It cost me $54 per wheel to replace them. When we went to the office to let them know we were leaving, the two “ladies” could have cared less, so I asked them if they’d like to know why. “Sure” one said…. They said nothing like that has ever happened there before. I find that incredibly hard to believe that it was a one time event.I am including CURRENT photos of the park known as Lehmans Lakeside Resort. You can come to your own conclusions as to the validity of the 5 star ratings after viewing them. (Especially the one where the reviewer says the water is crystal clear)My personal opinion is that they were the only park open and felt they could take advantage of remote workers who had no other options.Heed my warning, if this is your only option to stay in an rv, pay for a hotel room.
Jun 27, 2025 · Sandra BrueggemannThis place only take cash or checks. It is not a resort as the name implies. There is not a single trash can on the premises and for $60.00 you get water and electricity that's it. I did not see any lake there is a pond of sorts. The showers are ok but lacks any hooks or anyplace to hang anything. It appears that they had hooks but in the repair process they didn't reinstall any. One stall had 1 hook and in that stall someone hung a small rack to place your soap and shampoo. The water pressure was good and hot water was good. The wifi they claim had bad signal strength and would not allow my laptop or TV to stream. It appears that most people here are permanently set upThe place has potential but is not properly maintained or staffed. The management is more concerned with the 5 mph rule then anything here. I was scolded for my approximate 7 to 8 mph speedI will not be backThe office has coolers but they are completely empty. The store shelves are mostly empty. Unless you need a hand made refrigerator magnet you are out of luck
May 17, 2025 · Roy ShipmanLehman’s RV Park – 2 StarsLehman’s RV Park has potential, but it needs serious improvements before it could be considered an actual “RV Resort.”1. Water QualityThe water here is rough—high in metals, yellow-tinted, and carries a strong odor. Definitely not something you want to drink or shower in without a heavy-duty filtration system. If you’re planning a stay, make sure you bring a quality water filter.2. The Mini Cooper Speed PatrolThere’s a woman in a small blue Mini Cooper who seems to have unofficially taken on the role of speed enforcer. I was doing about 8 mph (pretty reasonable), and halfway down the drive, she stuck her hand out the window, signaling me to stop and “keep it under 5.”The kicker? Later that night, her husband blew past my RV doing at least 10–15 mph. Classic.3. Razor Rocket ManThere’s also a guy on a black Razor scooter (looks like staff) who absolutely tears through the park. If the speed limit is really 5 mph, he’s breaking it by a factor of six. Honestly surprised he hasn’t launched into orbit yet.4. Propane WoesTried to get my RV’s propane tank filled around 3 PM on a Friday—no one was around. Called the office and was told no one would be available until Monday. Ended up having to disconnect and drive to the nearby Love’s. Not exactly convenient when you’re running low.5. Laundry FacilitiesIf you value your clothes, steer clear of the laundry room. Between the bad water and the worn-out machines, your wardrobe doesn’t stand a chance.6. Roads are absolutely horrendous. It’s a pothole maze that makes driving an event trying to weave back and forth to miss them.
Apr 28, 2025 · Jim HendersonThis was by far the worst RV park that I have ever encountered in 50 years of RVing. There is absolutely, no response that the Lehman's could provide to dispute their terrible RV business and customer care The Lehman's charge more than anyone and call it a "resort" when in fact it should be called a dump The Lehman's advertise there "resort" has paved roads, when in fact, they are gravel.. The Lehman's advertise a lake which is nothing more than an algae filled swamp which feels foreboding Forget using the Lehman's advertised dog park. It smells like strong dog uring and has piles of old dog poop throughout. The best part of all is the yellow well water which smells of high iron and causes bumps and itching. Wonderful amenity at this fine "resort". This " resort" is nothing more than an old farm field in the middle of other farm fields near nothing at all. The Lehman's do not offer military discounts, or honor the military in any fashion. This was my first campground throughout America who will not honor military with a discount. Shameful. The Lehmans charge more than average for a spot with less amenities than normal. The Lehman's space rate includes up to 4 persons. Any one additional, including children under 12, is an additional cost. Temporary small dog pens are forbidden even tho the dog park is a BIO hazzard. The Lehmans do not allow refunds and accept only cash or check. Clear to see why.. With the dirty unsafe water alone the Lehmans would have many charge backs. Staying the night on the side of a road, any road, would be a much better option. DO NOT STAY at this DUMP.
Jun 28, 2025 · cynthia roseIn all transparency, I asked if I could change my monthly due date because of where my paychecks fall and they refused. I have stayed here all summer and winter and have continuously paid between 4 and 14 days late with all late fees. I paid for a 2 (100 lb) gas tank set up, where they didn't hook it up right and the gas leaked out twice. I thought it was on my end, but it wasn't, and wasn't reimbursed when I finally noticed the smell when the direction of the wind changed. Sometimes they say I owe one thing and write me a bill and sign it and then call later saying I have a higher bill and they made a mistake. I paid up every time. The showers they only clean supposedly once a week during the winter because they are less busy per management. Dirt rings in the toilets, mold under floor shower mats, and hair hanging from a bolt for over a month in the shower. I had my sewage drain pipe slashed in the summer, people walk through my site and their tracks in the snow led to their trailer and management said they couldn't do anything, someone left a peed on snowball on my picnic table, and management said they couldn't do anything. Now, like almost always, I can't pay rent because I opened a new, local checking account and put a transfer of money to pay. I showed them the amount transferred and it was supposed to be available in 3 days, but it now is available per the bank in 7 days. The campground owner (Robin) said they don't care. Not to mention they were very prejudice against Latino campers and charge visitors (even if it is only for a partial day to say hi to me). Oh, yes....water smells and their small lake/pond is full of algae in the summer. I put up with it because I need to sell my house first, but took employment near their campground. I am not totally in the right, but with what I put up with, it is insane. Not to mention I only sleep there at night and go home on the weekends. One more thing, police were at the campground one month about twice a week. Someone naked, a trailer fire, and domestic disputes.
