Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite is a pragmatic choice for those who prioritize ease of access and essential amenities. Situated just a mile off Interstate 81, it’s a strategic location for quick overnights, making it a favored spot for those on longer journeys or looking for a straightforward camping experience. While it emphasizes functionality for travelers, it also offers a genuine connection to the local landscape of Falling Waters.
Guests often highlight the campground's longevity and its commitment to accommodating visitors efficiently. Whether you're pulling a big rig or setting up a tent for the night, the focus here is on providing a practical and comfortable base. It's a testament to its enduring presence in the community that it has continued to serve campers for over six decades.
Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite is located at 7685 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters, WV 25419, USA. Its most significant locational advantage is its extreme convenience to Interstate 81. Situated only one mile from Exit 23 on I-81, it offers incredibly easy access for those traveling north or south through West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle.
This prime spot makes it an ideal "layover" or "stopover" campground for RVers on long road trips, allowing for minimal deviation from their route. Despite its proximity to a major interstate, many guests report that road noise is not an overwhelming issue, particularly in certain areas of the park. The campground's location in Falling Waters also places it within a short driving distance of other regional attractions in West Virginia and neighboring Maryland, including historic sites and recreational areas, making it a practical base for exploring the wider area.
The internal roads around the campground are noted to be somewhat hilly, but sites are generally designed to be relatively level for ease of parking and setup. Ample room is available for unhooking tow vehicles, even for larger setups like a Class C towing a Jeep, which speaks to its big-rig friendly design.
Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite focuses on providing essential and convenient services for its campers:

- Water/Electric Sites: For those not requiring sewer connections, water and electric-only sites are also available.
- Tent Sites: A dedicated, shady area along a small stream is reserved for tent campers, offering a more traditional camping experience.
- Free Wi-Fi: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, allowing campers to stay connected.
- Cable TV: Cable TV connections are available at RV sites and in certain cabins, providing entertainment options.
- Self-Serve Laundry: On-site laundry facilities offer convenience for extended stays.

- Propane Filling Station: Propane is available for purchase, ensuring campers can keep their grills and heating systems running.

- Small Pond: There's a "nice little pond" out front, adding a touch of natural scenery and potentially attracting local wildlife (though caution is advised regarding geese).

- Quiet Location (for some sites): While some sites are near a noisy road, other areas of the campground can offer a "quiet place to spend the night."
Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite, being an independent, family-owned campground, may not publicly advertise large-scale promotions in the same way a national chain might. However, based on common practices for such establishments and available information:
- Good Sam Club Discount: As a Good Sam Park, Leatherman's typically offers a 10% discount on nightly rates for Good Sam Club members. This is a standard benefit for members at participating campgrounds.
- Military Discount: Some reviews and information suggest the availability of a military discount, which is a common courtesy at many campgrounds. It's always best to inquire directly when booking.
- Competitive Nightly Rates: Pricing for sites is generally competitive for the amenities offered, with current rates around $50 for full hookup RV sites, $48 for water/electric, and $40 for tent sites.
For the most current pricing and any specific offers, it is highly recommended to contact the campground directly via phone. Given their "Call Ahead Camping" system, a direct phone call is the most effective way to inquire about availability and any applicable discounts for your stay.

Leatherman's/Falling Waters Campsite Reviews
Stayed one night in late April. Our spot was right along a very noisy road. The bathrooms were a long muddy walk away and they were disgusting. The whole park seems to have long been under construction. We would advise against staying here.
May 16, 2025 · Tom RoughtonA decent option for an overnight stay. We have a 25 foot Class C towing a Jeep and arrived after closing with a map, receipt and rules left where promised. Plenty of room to unhook out front. Roads around the campground are hilly, but our site was relatively level. The bathroom could use some updating and cleaning. Automatic paper towel dispenser was either broken or empty from the moment of arrival. As was mentioned in other reviews, most people staying here are full-timers, but that’s okay with us. Less than a mile off I-81, so very convenient for those traveling the interstate. We had no issue of road noise as mentioned by others. They have a nice little pond out front which seems to be a goose magnet so watch where you walk. They are proud of their longevity here, but a few updates would really help. It appears they have a nice little camping store, but it wasn’t open during our overnight stay. If passing through, we’d stop here again.
Aug 06, 2024 · Mark L. ClarkMade a reservation and arrived in some rain. The assigned site was at a muddy exit, bottom of a hill, and water was in the ground under freeze proof sleeve. The shower facility is old, moldy, and window is taped to keep it closed. The floors were dirty and no soap nor towels for hand washing. Most of the sites in the main location are on top of the hill, those located below have flooding in thunderstorms. The store closes promptly and the staff are not customer focused to assist campers.
Sep 16, 2024 · Chuck GillmoreNo sign for office; when you walk in the huge store the check in desk is in the back. When I suggested maybe putting out a sign that said office I got a snarky, "never been an issue". Hard t believe. The water was down in a hole and my husband had to lay on his stomach to attach the hose. It leaked horribly. The exit was down a steep hill full of potholes. We turned RV around and went out entrance. The traffic was horribly loud until around 11. The wifi was horrible. No covers over the sewer inlets so very bad smell. I can't believe this campground is Good Sam approved! It was very close to the highway which was the only good thing.
May 21, 2024 · susan lamareVery accommodating staff. We had to drive in after 12:00 a.m. and they left pur welcome letter for us so we knew where to go. There's a pretty creek alongside the sites. Right off the FREEWAY and a busy road but overall it's not bad as far as noise level goes. Clean bathrooms too.
