For those of us living in New Hampshire, the appeal of escaping to the great outdoors is undeniable. Our state offers a diverse landscape, from majestic mountains to tranquil rivers, providing endless opportunities for relaxation and adventure. When the urge to pitch a tent or park an RV strikes, finding a campground that perfectly balances natural beauty with comfortable amenities is key. Nestled along the picturesque Suncook River in Epsom, Lazy River Camping Area presents itself as a unique and inviting destination for campers seeking a laid-back and genuinely adult-friendly atmosphere.
Lazy River Camping Area has garnered a reputation for its relaxed environment, a place where campers are treated with respect and given the space to enjoy their stay without excessive oversight. This "treat you like an adult" philosophy is a significant draw for many, fostering a sense of freedom and ease that some other campgrounds might lack. While it’s family-friendly, the overall vibe leans towards a peaceful retreat where campers can truly unwind. With both tent and RV sites available, including some with coveted river frontage, it caters to various camping styles. The friendly staff and a range of on-site amenities contribute to a comfortable experience, making it a place many return to year after year. As one satisfied camper noted, despite a few minor quirks, it’s a place they'd "definitely be back again next year."
Lazy River Camping Area is conveniently located at 427 Goboro Road, Epsom, NH 03234, USA. Epsom is a charming town situated in Merrimack County, offering a central New Hampshire location that provides relatively easy access from various parts of the state. It's nestled along the Suncook River, which adds to its serene appeal and provides a natural backdrop for your camping adventures.
Accessing Lazy River Camping Area is generally straightforward, though for those unfamiliar with rural New Hampshire roads, a GPS or clear directions are always helpful. Epsom is close to major routes such as US Route 4 and NH Route 28, which connect to I-93, making it accessible from both southern New Hampshire (including the greater Manchester area, approximately 26 minutes away) and the Lakes Region. The campground itself is set back from the main thoroughfares, contributing to its quiet atmosphere, though some sites near the river may still experience some distant road noise from across the water, as noted by a reviewer. Despite this, the overall setting on Goboro Road offers a secluded feel, allowing campers to truly disconnect. Its location also means it's within a reasonable drive of New Hampshire's capital, Concord, providing access to additional amenities, shopping, and dining options should you need them during your stay. For locals, this means less time driving and more time relaxing by the campfire or exploring the beautiful natural surroundings of central New Hampshire.

- Swimming Pool: The campground boasts a "nice pool" which is a popular spot for cooling off on warm New Hampshire days. It's well-maintained and provides a refreshing alternative to river swimming.
- Game Room: Located on the second floor of the office building, there's a game room with amenities like a "nice pool table," offering indoor entertainment, especially on rainy days or in the evenings.
- Horseshoe Pits: Adjacent to the pool area, horseshoe pits provide a classic outdoor recreational activity for campers to enjoy.
- Laid-back & Adult-Friendly Atmosphere: A consistent theme in reviews is the relaxed and respectful environment. Campers appreciate being "treated like an adult" and not being "bothered" if they are not causing trouble, which fosters a more peaceful and easygoing stay. This hands-off management style is often highlighted as a positive.
- Spacious Tent Sites: One reviewer specifically praised "tent site #1 down near the river with absolutely no one nearby the entire time," suggesting that many sites, particularly tent sites, offer a good degree of privacy and space.
- Playground: For younger campers, a dedicated playground provides a safe and fun area for outdoor play.
- Wooded and Sunny Sites: The campground offers a mix of wooded sites for shade and privacy, river sites for water access, and sunny sites, allowing campers to choose the environment that best suits their preferences.

Jul 22, 2024 · james galvinStayed here from Monday through Thursday. Had tent site #1 down near the river with absolutely no one nearby the entire time we were here, only because they don't rent out sites 2 or 3 because of riverbank erosion. Other than the road being close by, across the river, this place has been great. Not the campground's fault but the river was really low which was a bummer but my dog, my gf and I still enjoyed it. A nice added bonus was the water and electricity hookup which was nice for charging and washing dishes. Possibly the only downside was the fact that he showers were only on the upper portion of the campground. I'd give this place a 4.5 but Google only allows 4 or 5 stars.
Aug 16, 2022 · Michael RyanIt's a no frills easy going kind of place. I've been here a handful of times and the management is always great, and hands off. No fire Nazis coming around at night telling you to put the fire out, or to quiet down. They have a playground and a pool, and also offer activities. Go here and check it out.
