Last Resort Campground is strategically located at 4707 W 1300 S, Hanna, IN 46340, USA. This placement in Hanna, Indiana, offers a balance between being easily accessible and providing a rural camping experience. The campground's proximity to a major highway is a notable feature, making it convenient for travelers passing through or those looking for a quick escape from city life. While the highway access is a plus for travel convenience, it can also lead to some traffic noise, especially from trucks, which is a common characteristic of campgrounds situated near busy routes.
Despite being near a highway, many visitors have reported that the campground itself can feel surprisingly quiet, suggesting that the layout or natural buffers help to mitigate some of the noise. This makes it a feasible option for those seeking a peaceful retreat without venturing too far off the beaten path. Furthermore, being in Hanna places it within reach of other attractions in Northwest Indiana. While the immediate vicinity is rural, a short drive can lead to areas like Valparaiso, offering more extensive shopping and dining options. For Indiana locals seeking a straightforward and budget-conscious camping option, Last Resort Campground in Hanna offers a unique value proposition. Its suitability for residents across the state, particularly those in Northern Indiana, stems from its accessibility, affordability, and the specific kind of camping experience it provides. Understanding its strengths, especially when considering diverse past visitor feedback, is key to a successful stay.
One of the primary reasons Last Resort Campground is suitable for Indiana locals is its accessibility. Located conveniently off a major highway, it's an easy drive for many in the region, minimizing travel time and maximizing relaxation time. This convenience is particularly appealing for weekend getaways or last-minute trips when long drives are not desirable. The ability to find a spot that’s close to home yet still provides a sense of escape into nature is a significant draw for local campers.
Furthermore, the campground's pricing structure, including nightly, weekly, and monthly rates, makes it an attractive option for those looking for an economical camping experience. This affordability can make extended stays more feasible for families or individuals on a budget. For RV owners who are self-sufficient and prefer to utilize their own facilities, the full hookup sites offer convenience at a competitive price point, ensuring a comfortable stay without relying heavily on shared amenities.
The friendly and accommodating staff, as frequently highlighted by visitors, plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere. The presence of a catch-and-release pond for fishing and a playground for children also provides on-site recreational opportunities, adding value for families and those who enjoy casual outdoor activities directly at their campsite.
While some reviews mention concerns about the upkeep of shared facilities like bathrooms, showers, and the pavilion, it’s important for Indiana locals to consider their camping style. For RV campers who largely use their own facilities, these concerns might be less impactful. For tent campers or those heavily reliant on public amenities, setting appropriate expectations or being prepared with alternatives like personal wipes is advisable. Despite these varied experiences, the core appeal of a quiet, accessible, and pet-friendly environment with a helpful staff often shines through, making Last Resort Campground a practical choice for many Indiana residents seeking a simple and pleasant outdoor retreat.

Last Resort Campground Reviews
We stayed here during a long bike trip and were very disappointed. The website and reviews made this place sound clean and welcoming, but it was the opposite. The office looked decent outside, but inside it was a mess. The papers everywhere and no sense of order. The bathrooms and showers were rusty, full of bugs, and felt filthy. We didn’t feel safe using them and had to clean ourselves with wipes instead. The pavilion was disgusting: piles of junk, a dead bird on the floor, moldy appliances, and leftover food boxes.Laundry was no better. The dryer was packed with animal hair, and the washer ruined a tank top.On top of that, it was loud all night because the campground sits right next to the highway. Between the traffic noise and the poor maintenance, it was impossible to feel rested or comfortable.I think most people give this place good reviews because they have RVs and don’t need to touch any of these facilities. If you’re relying on the bathrooms, showers, or shared spaces, be prepared for a really unpleasant experience. This was nothing like what was advertised, and it honestly felt neglected. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you bring everything you need and don’t plan to use any of their amenities.
Jul 02, 2025 · Isabelle TroupWe had a great stay. Nice and quiet, even though it’s close to the highway. Everyone we interacted with was friendly- staff (Brad) treated you well, and checked in often. They treated our dogs well and gave them plenty of treats! Pond has some good size fish (we saw mostly bass) for catch and release. Overall nice place to stay!
Jun 16, 2025 · Kaitlyn RoyalI love coming here for the fishing and this is where I made most of all my memories fishing as a little kid. But I was wondering for the owner if he has done or changed anything to the pond. That is all but if you like fishing for big bass or catfish this is the place to go.
Jun 12, 2025 · update your nameThis campground is amazing, they have a fishing pond, dog park, and a swimming pool! Reasonably priced and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. I'm staying here because it's close to work and if I ever get on another job site near here I'll definitely be back!!
Apr 29, 2025 · Rodney HansenFirst time coming, staff was friendly & accommodating - however the spots are very small, very cramped and half covered in rocks so we couldnt even put up our 2nd tent. The RV right behind us had a big dog enclosure COVERED in dog poop, 10 steps away from our picnic table - it wasnt pleasant being right next to it and the campers never cleaned up any of that mess in the 3 days we were there. The website says ammenities include wifi, animals, pool - there was no wifi, no animals besides geese, and the pool was dirty (not that the weather was swim appropriate anyways but it was noticed.) I'm not sure if there's quiet time but at 1:00 am, there are kids screaming, golf cards riding around, and karaoke going on. There were so many open spots near the pond that we would've much rather been at, so I'm not sure why they weren't available. The fishing docks are out dated and very loose and an accident waiting to happen! On the bright side, the bathrooms were clean and the kids loved the bounce house but if we come back I will request to be at the other end of the park, being right between a bunch of RVs and on a tiny trail is not ideal.
