Absolutely amazing experience! We stayed two nights and had a great time. We did not have a reservation but we're lucky to get a couple fcfs sites right on the lake. The lake was beautiful to kayak in and fish. They have kayak rentals, and a little shop with ice and some basic grocery needs. They also have a great beach area for the kids to play with bathrooms and rinse shower stations. Campground was very clean and quiet, bath house was very clean and water stations were spaced closest between every couple sites. We saw deer and wild rabbits during our stay. There are a few hiking trails that circle the lake also. Much to do here! We will definitely be back to enjoy this park again. - Toshianna Watson

Promotions or Special Offers

As a campground managed by the U.S. Forest Service within the Monongahela National Forest, Lake Sherwood Recreation Area typically operates on a standardized fee structure rather than offering commercial "promotions" or "special offers." Campsite fees generally range, depending on site type and location. The value it provides comes from its well-maintained facilities, beautiful natural setting, and range of amenities.

However, a significant "special offer" for eligible West Virginia locals (and other visitors) is the availability of discounts for holders of certain federal recreation passes. These may include the America the Beautiful Senior Pass and Access Pass, which often provide a 50% discount to the base campsite fee (though not typically on any hookup fees, if applicable, which are not present at Lake Sherwood). It's always advisable to confirm the current fees and specific discount applications directly.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on fees, pass acceptance, or any operational updates (such as the current status of the small shop or specific rental costs), West Virginia residents are encouraged to consult the official U.S. Forest Service website for the Monongahela National Forest or contact the local Ranger District Office at the provided phone numbers. While you won't find traditional sales, the consistent affordability and potential for federal pass discounts make Lake Sherwood an excellent and accessible choice for budget-conscious West Virginia campers.
