Lake Perry Campground boasts an excellent and accessible location at 14890 Hwy T, Perryville, MO 63775, USA. This positioning is highly advantageous for Missouri residents. Situated just 15 minutes from town, as one reviewer mentioned, it offers the perfect balance of being close enough to amenities for convenience, yet far enough to provide a genuine outdoor escape. Perryville is a charming town in Southeast Missouri, known for its small-town charm and proximity to natural attractions. The campground is conveniently located just outside the main gates of Lake Perry, a private, gated lake community. While access to Lake Perry itself is generally for lot owners and their guests, the campground’s proximity means campers are surrounded by a similar natural aesthetic. Furthermore, it is just 5 miles from Mark Twain National Forest, as well as multiple conservation areas with creek access, providing ample opportunities for hiking, fishing, and exploration beyond the campground boundaries. This ease of access from various parts of Missouri, combined with its peaceful setting, makes Lake Perry Campground a practical and appealing choice for both short weekend getaways and longer, more immersive trips, allowing more time for enjoyment and less time on the road.
Lake Perry Campground offers a range of services designed with the modern camper in mind, focusing on convenience, comfort, and an enhanced outdoor experience. As a newer establishment, it's quickly adding more amenities to serve its growing community:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: The campground features 16 full hookup (water, 50/30/20 amp electric, and sewer) camping/RV sites. This includes 8 pull-through lots (25' wide x 40' long) and 8 back-in lots (ranging from 25-30' wide and 30-70' long), accommodating various rig sizes.
- Tent Sites: Two dedicated tent lots are available, each equipped with 20 amp electric and water hookups, providing a comfortable option for traditional campers.
- Buddy Lots: Two unique "buddy lots" are available, designed for both a camper and a tent, perfect for larger groups or families wanting to camp together.
- Complimentary Firewood: As highlighted by a customer, the owner provides free firewood as needed, ensuring a warm and inviting campfire experience.
- Ice Vending Machine: A 24/7 on-site ice vending machine offers convenient access to ice for coolers and beverages.
- Future Amenities (Late Fall/Early Winter 2024): The campground has exciting plans, including a 30'x50' covered pavilion with restrooms and shower houses, a full bar serving canned beer, craft draft beer, mixed drinks, premium wines, and adult slushy drinks (like the "nearly famous Perrywacker"). A 400 square foot studio cabin (sleeps 4) with a deck, bedroom, full kitchen, and bath is also planned.
- Level Sites: Reviewers praise the sites for being "pretty level," requiring minimal adjustment for RVs.
- Good Water Pressure: Campers can expect very good water pressure at the sites.
The features and highlights of Lake Perry Campground truly make it stand out as a unique and engaging destination for Missouri residents. These aspects contribute to its growing popularity and distinct charm:
- Exceptional Owner Hospitality: Multiple reviews highlight the owner's friendliness, helpfulness, and personal touch, including bringing free firewood and preparing pancakes on Sunday mornings. This level of service fosters a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere.
- The "Perrywacker" Drink: A truly unique highlight is the owner-created "Perrywacker," described as a "delicious adult beverage" (like a Bushwacker, but better), often provided during special events like Saturday night gatherings.
- Community Gatherings with Food Trucks and Music: The campground hosts social events, with a food truck and music on Saturday nights, creating a lively atmosphere and opportunities for campers to socialize.
- Thoughtful Site Amenities: Each site comes with useful additions like stabilizer jack pads and a "just bright enough" solar light, showcasing attention to detail for camper convenience.
- New and Well-Maintained Facilities: As a new campground established in July 2024, everything is fresh, clean, and "manicured to perfection," from the gravel sites to the fire pits (made from 55-gallon drums).
- Flexible Site Design: While utilities are closer to the front on back-in sites (potentially requiring extensions), pull-through sites have centrally located utilities, and future plans include lengthening back-in sites and converting them to pull-throughs for even greater ease.
- Proximity to Natural Attractions: Being near Mark Twain National Forest and other conservation areas provides easy access to hiking, fishing, and exploring Missouri's natural beauty.
- Unbeatable Price: A recurring theme in reviews is the "unbeatable price," making it an affordable option for quality camping.

May 14, 2025 · Chris RobertsonLake Perry Campground was a pleasant surprise. This is a new campground with an added personal touch. The owner’s communication and hospitality were excellent. The owner brought us free firewood as needed. Which burned very well in the new fire pits. They are 55 gallon drums cut in half and work very well at radiating heat. On Saturday night there was a food truck with music and free Perrywackers provided by the owner. A Perrywacker is a delicious adult beverage created by the owner. It’s like a Bushwacker, but better. The owner also made pancakes on a griddle Sunday morning in the campground for us all. Each site had a set of stabilizer jack pads, a solar light (just bright enough), and full hookups. Our site was part gravel and part grass. It was a buddy site so we had plenty of room. The other sites, while smaller, looked adequate. The site was pretty level. I had to raise one side by only ¾ of an inch. Each site had 50, 30 and 20 amp receptables. We had no problems with the 30 amp service. The water pressure was very good. The sewer pipe was only about 5 inches off the ground, so not too high. There aren’t trees on the sites, but there are woods right next to them that provide shade for several hours in the morning. There are a couple of concerns, but by no means are they deal breakers.-You may need an extension for your electric/sewer/water hookups. On the back-in sites where I was camping, all the utilities are placed together closer to the front of the sites than the rear. I needed an extension for both the electric and sewer. The utilities on the pull-through sites were placed more in the middle though, which didn’t cause a problem for any of those campers that I noticed.-There are storage units nearby that have bright lights shining in the direction of the campground. This didn’t bother me like I thought it would though. Most of the light went over the top of the campground and there were still many stars visible.I did take advantage of a promotion the campground was running, but everything I mentioned should be available at any time. I believe some of the items are weekends only, like the pancakes and Perrywackers.Overall, I enjoyed camping here and will camp here again next season. I am looking forward to the new additions they have planned. Soon, they will be adding a bath/shower house, a large pavilion, a bar and kitchen, and a studio cabin. They also intend to lengthen the back-in sites and convert them to pull-through sites.
