Lake Logan KOA Journey Introduce
lake logan koa
For us Ohioans, the call of the outdoors is a familiar tune, and when that melody plays, many of us turn our thoughts to the breathtaking beauty of the Hocking Hills region. Nestled conveniently near the serene waters of Lake Logan, the Lake Logan KOA Journey offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature without sacrificing comfort or convenience. It’s a newer addition to the KOA family, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite for those seeking a clean, friendly, and well-equipped base for their Ohio adventures.
As locals, we appreciate places that offer both a sense of escape and easy access to the attractions we love. Lake Logan KOA Journey perfectly balances this, providing a welcoming environment for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Whether you're pulling in with a large RV, setting up a cozy tent, or looking for a comfortable cabin, this campground is designed to make your stay enjoyable. The team here truly goes the extra mile to ensure you feel settled and cared for, adding that touch of personal hospitality that makes all the difference.
From the sparkling pool in the summer to the self-serve firewood that ensures your campfire never goes out, Lake Logan KOA Journey is designed with the camper in mind. It's a place where kids can run free on the playground, furry friends can stretch their legs at KampK9®, and adults can relax by the fire after a day of exploring nearby hiking trails or enjoying Lake Logan. It represents a refreshing option for Ohioans looking for a reliable and enjoyable camping experience in one of our state's most beloved natural areas.
Lake Logan KOA Journey is ideally situated at 28920 Lake Logan Rd, Logan, OH 43138, USA. This prime location places it in the heart of Ohio's stunning Hocking Hills region, a highly sought-after destination for outdoor enthusiasts from across the state and beyond. Being a KOA Journey campground, it's designed for convenience, typically located near major highways to offer easy access for travelers.
The campground's proximity to Lake Logan State Park is a significant advantage. Just minutes away, Lake Logan offers opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming at the beach, and picnicking. This means campers have a natural playground right at their doorstep, without needing to venture far from their site. Furthermore, the wider Hocking Hills region, with its world-famous hiking trails, stunning rock formations, caves, and waterfalls (including Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and Cantwell Cliffs), is easily accessible from the campground. This allows for countless day trips to explore some of Ohio's most iconic natural wonders.
Accessibility from major Ohio cities is a key benefit for local users. From Columbus, the drive is approximately an hour, making it an ideal weekend getaway. From Cincinnati, it's around 2 hours, and from Cleveland, approximately 3 hours. These manageable driving distances mean that a refreshing escape to nature is well within reach for most Ohio residents.
While the campground aims for convenience with its location near main roads, it's worth noting that some internal roads within the campground may be newer gravel surfaces, which will settle over time. However, the overall accessibility makes it a practical choice for RVs of various sizes, trailers, and standard vehicles, ensuring a smooth arrival for your camping adventure in the Hocking Hills.
Lake Logan KOA Journey provides a comprehensive array of services designed to make your camping experience as comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable as possible. As a KOA campground, you can expect a certain standard of amenities, with this location striving to offer unique touches that cater to all types of campers.
Diverse Site Options: The campground offers a variety of camping sites to suit different preferences. These include long pull-through RV sites with 50-amp service, ideal for larger rigs, as well as back-in RV sites. Premium tent sites are also available for those who prefer traditional tent camping. All sites typically include essential amenities like picnic tables and fire rings for outdoor cooking and gathering.
Clean and Private Bathrooms & Showers: A significant highlight mentioned by visitors is the cleanliness and privacy of the restroom facilities. The bathrooms are designed as single-occupancy units, each with its own toilet and shower, offering a more personal and comfortable experience compared to communal bathhouses. While heating may not be available in all seasons (as noted by one visitor in mid-October), the overall cleanliness and pleasant odor are consistently praised.
Swimming Pool: During the warmer months (typically late May to early September), a swimming pool is available, providing a fantastic way for guests of all ages to cool off and have fun. This is a major draw for families, offering a refreshing break from outdoor activities.
KampK9® Dog Park: As a pet-friendly campground, Lake Logan KOA Journey features a dedicated KampK9® area. This off-leash dog park allows furry family members to stretch their legs and socialize, making it a highly appreciated amenity for pet owners.
Playground: For younger campers, an on-site playground provides a safe and engaging space for children to burn off energy and make new friends, enhancing the family-friendly atmosphere of the campground.
Camp Store and Essential Supplies: A well-stocked camp store is available, offering a variety of essential supplies, snacks, and perhaps even souvenirs. This convenience means you don't have to leave the campground for forgotten items or quick provisions.
Firewood Service: The campground operates on an honor system for firewood, allowing campers to self-serve firewood at any time. This thoughtful service ensures you won't run out of wood for your campfire, even in the middle of the night.
Snack Bar and Food Options: For those times when you don't feel like cooking, the campground offers a snack bar, and there are even options for pizza and wings, providing convenient dining choices right on-site.
Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi service is available, allowing guests to stay connected if needed, though many come to unplug and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Future Enhancements: The campground is continuously working on improvements, with plans to upgrade all RV sites with concrete patios and pads, and add amenities like pickleball and basketball courts, and cornhole areas, further enhancing the guest experience.
Lake Logan KOA Journey distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that contribute to a memorable and enjoyable camping experience, particularly for those of us living in Ohio:
Proximity to Lake Logan and Hocking Hills: The campground’s location is arguably its biggest asset. Being "just minutes from Lake Logan" offers convenient access to boating, fishing, swimming, and other water activities. Furthermore, its placement in the Hocking Hills region means world-class hiking trails, stunning rock formations (like Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave), and waterfalls are all within a short drive, providing endless opportunities for exploration and adventure.
Friendly and Hospitable Owners/Staff: Consistent praise from reviews highlights the exceptionally friendly and hospitable nature of the owners and staff. This personal touch, from checking in on campers as they set up to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, makes a significant difference in the overall guest experience. This warmth is something we Ohioans truly appreciate in our local businesses.
Clean and Private Individual Bathrooms: The emphasis on clean, private, single-stall bathrooms with showers is a major highlight. This offers a level of comfort and privacy often missing in larger campground facilities, making for a much more pleasant and luxurious experience than typical shared bathhouses.
Kid-Friendly Amenities (Playground & Pool): For families, the presence of a playground and a swimming pool (during summer months) makes Lake Logan KOA Journey incredibly appealing. These amenities provide dedicated spaces for children to play, burn off energy, and socialize, ensuring that younger campers have just as much fun as the adults.
Pet-Friendly Facilities (KampK9®): The inclusion of a KampK9® dog park demonstrates the campground’s commitment to being truly pet-friendly. This dedicated off-leash area allows dogs to exercise and enjoy their camping trip, a huge bonus for Ohioans who love to travel with their furry companions.
Honor System Firewood: The self-serve, honor system firewood is a convenient and trust-based feature. It ensures that campers can easily access firewood whenever they need it, allowing for uninterrupted evenings around the campfire, a quintessential part of the camping experience.
Continuous Improvement and Development: As a newer KOA, Lake Logan KOA Journey is actively undergoing improvements. Plans for concrete patios and pads at RV sites, along with additions like pickleball, basketball, and cornhole courts, indicate a dedication to enhancing the guest experience and providing even more recreational opportunities in the future.
Well-Stocked Camp Store and Dining Options: The availability of a well-stocked camp store for essentials and a snack bar offering items like pizza and wings provides convenient solutions for provisioning and quick meals, reducing the need to leave the campground for supplies.

Mid-Week Stay Discounts: If your schedule allows, booking your stay from Sunday through Thursday can often qualify you for a percentage off your nightly rate, making it a more economical option for a quiet retreat.
Seasonal Promotions: Keep an eye out for special rates during the spring and fall shoulder seasons when the campground might be less busy but still beautiful to visit. Holidays might also feature special packages or events.
Care Camps Big Weekend: KOA often hosts a "Care Camps Big Weekend" where campers can contribute to a good cause. By staying on a Friday night, you might receive the Saturday night free, with a portion of the proceeds supporting children with cancer.
Early Bird or Last-Minute Deals: While less common for prime dates, some campgrounds might offer incentives for booking far in advance or for last-minute availability, especially for specific site types or cabins.

Lake Logan KOA Journey Reviews
I haven't stayed here myself but I deliver Door Dash deliveries here all the time and it is super cute and clean. (:
Jun 21, 2025 · Porsha WilsonThis is an average campground. Not the worst I've ever been to but also not the best. The owner was super friendly very hospitable. She even came over to us while setting up camp to make sure we were settling in nicely. Also the firewood is self serve all night and they use the honors system, which was nice because we didn't have to worry about running out of wood in the middle of the night. The bathrooms were nice each was a single with a toilet and shower. They were clean and smelled pleasant however, they were not heated so we opted out of showers since we went in mid October when it was cold.If we went on a busier weekend I would probably be giving this place a much lower rating as I don't know where we would have set up camp. The campsites are very small. We were taking up 2 if not 3 campsites as realistically we would not have been able to fit our 2 small tents on one site with a vehicle that was a safe distance from the fire ring. Basically we set up camp on one site and used the fire ring on the campsite behind us. It looks very kid friendly with playgrounds and a pool in the summer. The sites on the outside of the park looked to be decent size for small campers and tents. I would not recommend a site in the middle of the park (this is where we were) unless you are a couple or single individual with one small tent. Also if your site does not have water bring your own as there is not a community area to fill up water for drinking and cooking. Luckily the park wasn't busy so we went to another site to get water.
Oct 10, 2022 · Ashleigh KleinWe camped via tent which was a little muddy but also expected. We stayed at campsite 55 near the back and one of the days it rained some much we had our own waterfall by the creek which was awesome. Our campsite was huge with lots of space. Campground gets busy during weekend with 4 working bathrooms so you have to be strategic with planning your bathroom use, we took our showers late at night and had no issues, however 8-9 am is a busy bathroom time so plan accordingly. The campground has firewood for purchase, a pool, volleyball net, and small playground. One of the down sides of the big campsite in the back is the background sounds of the expressway behind the campground which seemed louder at night probably because it was so quiet. Have a fan or something for white noise and you should be fine. Great price! We enjoyed our stay and seen all the beauty Hocking Hills had to offer.
Jun 13, 2021 · Krystal MorinWe really enjoyed our 1st experience at this simple but cozy campground. I'm so familiar with bigger state park ran campground so I was unsure of how it would go with a smaller family owned campground. Unfortunately it had rained quite a bit before we had arrived and that is completely out of the owners control. When we arrived we were told that our campsite was submerged in water but they did not hesitate to find us another location to set up for the night. (I wouldn't expect this at a state park campground because it's usually a get what you get situation) It was a very small corner that didn't really look like a campsite but luckily it was just the 2 of us and we are pretty flexible people. They even found us a fire ring and brought it over. It definitely added to our adventure and they even let us use the electric box next to it even though we had a primitive site originally. The lady was working super hard to accommodate the requests of every person on the campground. It seemed like she was the only staff onsite and she was a very patient lady. We would like to come back for the customer service alone. Thank you for the memories!
Aug 09, 2022 · Courtney GibsonStayed over Father’s Day weekend with my friend. Very easy check in as well, the staff was incredibly nice! We enjoyed our time here, honestly the bathrooms were the cleanest and nicest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a campsite. Don’t post about how there’s bugs in them — it’s the great outdoors, that’s to be expected! We were disappointed to find out when we asked the staff that this campground doesn’t have a drinking water pump, it was the first place we’ve been to that doesn’t have a pump, so make sure you bring plenty of water with you. It was also pretty expensive and in my experience it’s not because it’s a tourist area — I camped at Mackinaw Island in Michigan for 5 nights for the same price we paid for two nights here. All in all, we enjoyed it. It’s definitely a campsite to introduce your kids or family to camping before getting to a real camping experience.
