As a New York State Campground, Lake Durant State Campground operates under the pricing and booking policies set by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. State campgrounds generally do not offer "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial sense of discounts or limited-time deals. Their value proposition lies in the consistent quality of the natural setting, well-maintained facilities, and standard pricing structure. However, for New York residents, there are inherent benefits and practical considerations that act as ongoing value "offers":
- Consistent and Transparent Pricing: State campgrounds are known for their standardized and publicly available rate structures. This transparency allows New Yorkers to easily plan and budget for their camping trips without worrying about fluctuating prices or hidden fees. Rates are generally reasonable for the quality of the natural experience and facilities provided.
- Value of Pristine Natural Environment: The primary "offer" is the opportunity to camp in a "small, clean and quiet" setting within the protected Adirondack Park. Access to a "beautiful" lake, direct "hiking" trails, and a peaceful atmosphere are invaluable features that come with your campsite rental, offering a significant return on investment for nature lovers.
- High-Quality, Included Facilities: The "brand new and always clean" shower facilities and consistently spotless bathrooms are included in the camping fee, providing a level of comfort and hygiene that enhances the camping experience without additional charges (beyond potential metered showers, which is common). The excellent garbage and recycling facilities also contribute to a clean environment for all.
- Accessibility of Reservations: While not a discount, the online reservation system for NYS Parks and DEC campgrounds makes booking convenient and accessible for New Yorkers, allowing them to secure popular sites, especially the sought-after "waterfront sites," well in advance.
- Annual Empire Pass: For frequent visitors to New York State Parks and DEC facilities, purchasing an Empire Pass can offer savings on vehicle entry fees to many locations across the state. While Lake Durant charges a camping fee, the Empire Pass could provide value if combined with visits to other state parks in the region.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on camping rates, specific site availability, and reservation policies, New York residents should consult the official NYS DEC website for Lake Durant State Campground or call the park directly. Lake Durant State Campground Reviews
Great campground with a top notch staff and great facilities. My wife and I just spent 7 days here and we can't wait to return. The campground is small, clean and quiet. The lake is beautiful. There are 2 trail heads located in the campground that offer more trails as you go. Neither was very difficult and the end result was worth the hike. The shower facilities were brand new and always clean as were the bathrooms throughout the entire campground. The garbage and recycling facility is quite serious and is better than my town offers.
Jul 13, 2019 · Michael A GrebOur favorite Adirondack campground. Waterfront sites, beautiful new shower facility in 2017. Nice little beach, access to hiking. Quiet is great. Water available on the access road. No electric at sites which cuts down on the big rigs. We come here for a week every summer for the last 5 years and intend to keep it up. Relatively close to inlet and old forge.
Mar 07, 2018 · Scott CrowderWe decided to take our 2.5 month old baby RV camping for the first time. I've always driven by this campground and on a whim decided to give it a try, I am glad we did! The staff at Lake Durant Campground was very accommodating and friendly, they went out of their way to make us comfortable. The campsite is very well maintained and kept up. Thank you for a great experience we will remember forever!
