Lake Alpine Campground is majestically situated at 4000 CA-4, Arnold, CA 95223, USA. This prime address places it at an elevation of approximately 7,400 feet within the Stanislaus National Forest, a truly breathtaking part of California's Sierra Nevada mountains. The campground's location on Highway 4 (Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway) ensures a scenic and memorable drive for visitors. This high-country setting offers a refreshing escape from the warmer temperatures of California's lower elevations, providing crisp mountain air and stunning panoramic views.
Accessibility to Lake Alpine Campground is generally good, given its mountain location. Highway 4 is a well-maintained state highway, though it is a mountain road with winding sections that require careful driving. Visitors should be aware that portions of Highway 4, particularly Ebbetts Pass, are subject to seasonal closures due to snow, typically from late fall through late spring. Therefore, checking road conditions before travel, especially outside of peak summer months, is crucial. Despite its high-elevation setting, the campground is a feasible destination for locals across California, offering a relatively straightforward drive for those coming from the Central Valley, the Bay Area, or even Southern California for a longer trip. The ability to reach such a pristine mountain lake with relatively accessible roads makes Lake Alpine Campground a highly desirable choice for Californians seeking an alpine adventure without excessive travel challenges. The convenience of being able to drive up and immerse oneself in this stunning natural environment is a significant draw.

Lake Alpine Campground Reviews
I have been camping in Lake Alpine for nearly 20 years. This place is Amazing. If you like to hike, ride your bike in trails, and fish, this place is for you. The camp grounds are kept clean by the hosts. There is so much peace when you sit by the lake while you wait for trout to take your bait. Check out my pictures. Those were taken while I was fishing.
Oct 19, 2024 · Francisco CejaI used to stay in the Westside camp ground as a walk up camper when they had designated sites for such request. Now everything is mostly done with online reservations for all their campgrounds and sites, and their is no dedicated sites for walk-up except maybe for the backpackers camp ground which charges you the same price as a parking camp site! THIS IS A PRIVATELY OWNED Lake operation, thus they charge exuberant prices. So, just be prepared to pay $36 p/night. If you are just passing through for drive up over Ebbetts Pass, go 6 miles up the road and stay with Dave (camp host) at beautiful and iconic Mosquito Lakes where its only $15 a night for walk-up and first come first serve campsites (12 sites with vehicle parking and bathrooms, you need to bring your own water).
