6/12/2020 Kit Price had been closed for the prior 2 years to clear unsafe trees. The logging operation has left it in a terrible state this year. In our site (A12) we were unable to find ground even enough to pitch a tent due to ruts left from the logging. We ended up pitching it on the asphalt parking area. There are only a couple sites remaining with any shade available so the summer RV campers will suffer from the heat for many years to come until regrowth occurs. Now the good news. It is said that the Forest Service is planning to close the campground in the future, perhaps 2021, to install new tables, fire rings, paved parking spurs and restrooms. All sites will be made accessible. There's a lot of wood piled at most sites from the logging but the fire ring length rounds are too thick to burn as is so bring a splitting maul and wedge to take advantage of it.The hosts have been there in years past and are very nice and congenial while doing their best to deal with the mess that was left for them to deal with this year. - Allen Todalen

Kit Price Campground has a history of evolution, and its recent renovations have transformed it into a truly inviting space. While some past visitors might recall a period when the campground faced challenges due to extensive logging operations and subsequent cleanup, the good news for Idaho locals is that Kit Price underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2021. This significant investment, supported by grants from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation and federal funding, has resulted in a vastly improved and more enjoyable camping experience. As per the official information, the campground was "completely renovated in 2021, including new tables, fire rings, paved parking spurs, and restrooms." This commitment to upgrading facilities ensures that campers can now enjoy modern comforts within a natural setting.

The essence of Kit Price, however, remains its stunning natural surroundings. Situated at an elevation of 2,550 feet, the campsites, while now more open due to necessary tree removal for safety, still offer a genuine forested feel with smaller trees and brush contributing to the area's charm. The defining feature is its adjacency to the North Fork Coeur d'Alene River. This river is not just a scenic backdrop; it's an integral part of the camping experience, offering endless possibilities for relaxation and recreation. Guests rave about the "comfortable distance between us and neighbor campers," highlighting the park's ability to maintain a sense of privacy and peace. Moreover, the "river was a short stroll away, and it's calm enough to plop down chairs, cool off your feet, and savor the scenery," painting a vivid picture of the serene riverside moments that await local visitors. The presence of friendly and helpful camp hosts, often familiar faces from previous years, further enhances the welcoming atmosphere, making Kit Price Campground a cherished spot for generations of Idaho families.
