★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As a free camping site, it's pretty decent. You're RIGHT off the road, which isn't crazy busy at night, but during the day it has a fair amount of large loud cars blasting by. The creek running right behind the camp sites is a nice touch. Neighbor house is alllmost visible from the camp sites, his goats and yappy obnoxious dogs aren't contained and might come try to eat your food, trash, etc. I had to scream at the goat pack to get out of our camp site, and at one point Alpha Goat-jerk truly looked like he was going to attack me. The sites, of which there are only two (two tables, two fire pits, two driveways) are RIGHT next to each other. So if your camp neighbor wasn't someone you know, it could be weird.During the day quite a few people came through to stop and eat food, which is no huge deal, but the only bench is also right next to the camp sites. The outhouse was a frequented stop for travelers as well.In other words, if you're trying to get away from people and annoying dogs, don't camp here. If you need somewhere to crash for a night, it's a pretty clean and safe-seeming place to rest your head. The road getting up there is a REALLY great motorcycle road. Like.... so so good. Many many tight twisties and great views.
March 21 · Alicia Mariah Elfving (MotoLady)Nice quiet little campground before you enter the Range...toilet facility is always well maintained
December 17 · Therese M. Sankovitz, AuDSmall site, two tables with the toilet at the opposite end of where the tables are. Goats visited me in the morning, while a deputy visited me the day before looking for a car burglar. Not a bad little campground.
October 01 · David ShafferThe creek was running. Wonderful rolling thunder as a storm came through in the morning. I love the goats! They did not bother us at all. And the dog was obviously being monitored for barking only minimal during waking hours. I thought this campground was a gem!
September 22 · Sally McKenzieSmall campground before entering the Black Range..has a very clean rest area...one holer.....cross the stream and there is a good trail...moderate walking...approximately 3 campsites.
