Kentucky Horse Park Campground Reviews
Came here years ago and remember it being pristine! Little disappointed in this campground this time, but also understanding that there has been a lot of rain this spring summer. Our site was rutted pretty bad right at our entry door, we tried to park the. Best we could as to avoid the deep ruts. But couldn’t get away from them. Nice large sites, but grass was really high when we got here (again probably due to all the rain) a crew did show up to mow the day before we left. But they only mowed right around sites and didn’t mow common areas. Pool is beautiful and was kept so clean and cool (we were here during a heat wave). We just wished it was open later than 6pm especially with the extreme heat. There were teenagers Checking you in at pool, which was fine but they had chairs almost blocking locker room/entry doors and lots of their personal junk laying all over a table they were using. Thinking a manager should look at this once in a while. Not sure how a handicap person would get by the chairs, table, etc. all in all a nice campground. We are old school campers who respect other people’s sites/privacy so we wish there were some paths to get from the outer loop across the inner loop to the pool & store area without having to go all the way around the circle. Bath house next to the pool was a little dirty in the showers. Nice store, Great bike paths, right next to Beautiful Kentucky Park, with fishing & horseback riding. Very convenient to Lexington. Playgrounds and outdoor rec areas, laundry & game room. We used this as a home base and went to red river gorge and The Ark Encounter.
Jun 26, 2025 · June McCloskyMixed feelings. Wide, nice spaces. Lots of grass and shade at most sites. On the other hand...NO Sewer hookups at the sites, but we were required to stay 7 days. Very nice dump stations located throughout, but we had to unhook our RV every couple of days and move it because we showered and the tanks filled up. Bath houses aren't close walks. There is a narrow paved strip for the rv parking. Very little paved space on either side after backing in. But our site was MUD. It rained before we came and while here.Almost all sites are back in.Tree limbs were laying atop our air conditioner. We asked them to move us but no spaces were available. So we asked them to cut them back so they weren't on our unit. They didn't.There are lots of sites but only two bath houses. Considering there's no on-site sewer hook up, that's inconvenient. No garbage pick up. Carry to dumpsters. There is a play area, picnic area, and lighted pickle ball court. They shuttle to the Horse Park, but that isn't as convenient as it seems in the promotion. You call and wait for an intern or someone to come and then make certain you make arrangements when he drops you off to get a pick up. We thought we could call when we wanted to leave the park but asked, and he told us he had to come by 430 because he got off at 5.Bring a golf cart if you have one!! Never Golf Carts is a terrible rip-off. You will be steered in that direction if you ask about renting a golf cart. Dever's has a monopoly on the rentals. They charge a fortune and require you to return the cart before they open the next morning - no matter what time you pick up. So it isn't a cost for 24 hours. They charge you the full amount for the hours you have it. We picked up around noon because we have two elderly people but had to return it before 8 am. the next morning. Also, the gps directions to the cart rental will lead you wrong.

Jun 16, 2025 · dani lauThe camper spot was 164 for June.We plan on camping there again in the middle of July.A very bike friendly campground connects with the Legacy Bike Trail. Check it out and the campground on you tube .See you there. 😁
Jun 11, 2025 · Arthur PartinThe horse Park campground is absolutely wonderful except for one thing. The campsites desperately need gravel pads for the patio area. It's really tiresome having a mud puddle right outside the door of your camper. For the premier campground in the Kentucky State Park system, the Horse Park Campground overall maintenance is mediocre at best.
