- Clean Bathrooms: Kelsey Campground provides bathroom facilities that are noted for their cleanliness. Having clean and accessible restrooms significantly enhances the comfort level for all campers, making the outdoor experience more enjoyable and convenient, especially for families.
- Spacious Camping Spots: A significant advantage of Kelsey Campground is the generous size of its individual camping spots. Many visitors appreciate that the sites are large and don't feel cramped, allowing for ample space between groups. This provides a sense of privacy and freedom, ensuring campers can set up their equipment comfortably and enjoy their surroundings without feeling too close to their neighbors. This spaciousness is a key factor for those seeking a more relaxed and spread-out camping experience.
- Well-Maintained Campsites: Beyond the size of the spots, the general cleanliness of the camping areas themselves is frequently praised. This indicates a commitment to regular upkeep, contributing to a pleasant and welcoming environment for all visitors. A clean campsite makes for a more enjoyable and hassle-free setup, allowing campers to focus on their outdoor activities.
- Fire Rings/Pits (Implied): While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, most established campgrounds in Colorado provide fire rings for safe campfires. The ability to have a campfire is a quintessential part of the camping experience, allowing for cooking, warmth, and a central gathering point for groups. Campers should always check for any current fire bans or restrictions in the area, especially during dry seasons in Colorado, to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.
- Proximity to Natural Areas: Though not a direct service, the campground's location offers easy access to the natural beauty of the region, including opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and simply enjoying the serene Colorado landscape. This proximity to outdoor activities enhances the overall value of staying at Kelsey Campground.

This provides a sense of privacy and space, allowing campers to comfortably set up their gear and enjoy their surroundings without feeling overcrowded. This is particularly appealing for those seeking a more relaxed and private camping experience.
- Clean and Accessible Facilities: The consistent positive feedback regarding the cleanliness of the bathrooms is a significant highlight. Well-maintained facilities contribute greatly to a comfortable camping trip, especially for families and those new to camping.
- Good Base for Local Exploration: The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding natural areas, including parts of the Pike National Forest. This allows campers to combine their stay with hiking, wildlife observation, or other outdoor pursuits available in the region.
- Balanced Remote/Accessible Feel: While relatively close to a highway, offering convenience, the spacious sites help maintain a sense of being "away from it all." The noise typically subsides at night, allowing for peaceful evenings and starry skies, providing a good balance for those who want both accessibility and a natural setting.

It is important to acknowledge that, like any public campground, individual experiences can vary, as illustrated by one negative review concerning disruptive neighbors and a perceived lack of host intervention. While such isolated incidents can occur, they do not necessarily reflect the typical experience or the overall suitability of the campground for the majority of visitors. Many positive reviews highlight the generally good camping conditions and the enjoyable aspects of the site. It is always advisable for campers to be aware of campground etiquette and to contact management if significant issues arise. However, the fundamental offerings of spacious sites and clean facilities remain consistent strengths.
In essence, Kelsey Campground provides a practical, comfortable, and accessible option for Colorado locals to connect with the state's natural beauty. It offers a balance of convenience and an authentic camping experience, making it a highly suitable choice for your next outdoor adventure right here in your home state.

Kelsey Campground Reviews
It was a really good spot to camp. I didn't like that the highway went pretty close by because it could be loud during the day, but not too bad at night. Bathrooms aside from the usual Porta potty smell, they were very clean, and so were the camping spots. I really liked how most of the spots were very large. It didn't feel like everyone was cramped together. Overall, aside from the rain, it was a good trip.
Aug 11, 2024 · Destiny BradyDO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I left early because the host allowed multiple families to occupy the lot next to the one I rented with myself and two other people. We were next to 18 people partying, playing music and yelling all night. They blocked in our cars, walked through our camp all night, and then they started playing music at 7:00 AM the following morning! They were being extremely loud and disruptive and the host couldn't care less. What a waste of a weekend.
Jul 06, 2025 · Metreol O'DonnellWe really enjoyed staying here. If you're going to tent camp 17 was a great spot for it, it's on the end and rocks block other site so it's very private and has good shade. Outhouse bathrooms, fire pit, tables and a pump for water. The flies were pretty annoying at our site but not enough to where we wouldn't go again. The road noise is also quite loud which I would say is biggest drawback. There's a nice little hiking trail that my kids (2, 5, and 7) did just fine on. Overall would recommend!
Jun 12, 2022 · Melissa BettencourtUsually when I go camping at Decker's I camp down by the river over by Decker's Corner and this place is awesome! All the spots are surrounded in trees, very secluded. I'll definitely be coming back!
Aug 09, 2018 · Jason JanischStayed here for 2 nights. Great sites, camp hostess, v clean bathrooms and good wood for fire pits. I gave 4 stars not 5 because it's hard to find a perfectly flat site for a tent ⛺.
