Javelina Campsite Introduce
For many Arizonans, the allure of camping isn't about perfectly manicured sites and luxury amenities; it's about the freedom of the open road and the simplicity of a night under the stars. The Javelina Campsite, located in the vast and beautiful Yavapai County, offers just that kind of experience. This is a destination for the self-sufficient camper who values space and a break from the overly-structured environments of commercial campgrounds. While it may not be for everyone, it provides a valuable opportunity for a quick, rustic getaway. As local users, we appreciate that Javelina Campsite is an accessible, no-frills spot where you can enjoy the natural landscape without a heavy price tag. However, it's also important to be aware of its unique characteristics, which can vary depending on the time of year and the day of the week. This guide is designed to provide you with a factual and helpful overview of what to expect, so you can decide if Javelina Campsite is the right fit for your next Arizona adventure.
The nature of Javelina Campsite is that of a more primitive, public land camping area. It's a place where you can find a spot for your tent or RV, but it may not always be a perfectly level or private one, especially during peak times. The reviews from real campers are a testament to this, highlighting both the convenience of the location and the potential for a less than ideal experience if it's crowded. This type of camping requires a certain mindset—one that is adaptable and prepared for the unexpected. However, for many people, the trade-off is well worth it, as it provides a genuine connection to the outdoors and a chance to truly disconnect. We will explore the specifics of this site, including its location, the few but important services it provides, and the key features that make it a compelling choice for a particular kind of Arizona camper.
Location and Accessibility
The Javelina Campsite is located in Yavapai County, AZ 86325, USA. While the specific address points to a general area, the site itself is part of a public land system, which means it may not be marked with a formal entrance. The location is known for having a typical "washboard" road, so while it can accommodate vehicles of various sizes, including large RVs, it's important to be prepared for a bumpy ride. One of the key aspects of Javelina Campsite's accessibility is its appeal to both RV and tent campers. Reviews note that there are two main lots suitable for larger vehicles, while others with smaller rigs or tents can venture further in. This tiered access system allows for a greater variety of campers to find a spot. While it is not a developed campground with paved roads and numbered sites, its general accessibility for different vehicle types and its location in Yavapai County make it a convenient option for many Arizonans seeking a short trip.

What is Worth Choosing
Javelina Campsite is worth choosing for the Arizonan who prefers a simple, back-to-basics camping experience. The primary reason to opt for this site is its freedom from the typical confines of a developed campground. It's a place where you can find a spot without the need for a reservation, though it's important to be prepared for the possibility of a crowded area. The fact that it is "good for kids" and "dogs allowed" makes it a viable option for families and pet owners who are looking for a no-frills outdoor experience. While the terrain may be unlevel and the road a bit rough, these are simply part of the adventure. The running water is a significant amenity that elevates it from a purely primitive dispersed site. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely slammed on a Tuesday. So much so that people are parking literally right next to my van. Not a great area to have a real camping experience in. Fine for a night. Very unlevel too.
February 26 · J GettyIt is as nice as it can get as for BLM Camping. There are 2 lots for us with bigger RVs or trailers, Ours is a 31' Class A. It wasn't too hard to level off. The road is a typical washboard. There is a sign that allows less than 24' to go further in. Why don't the van and car campers don't go there? It was hard for me to maneuver around them.
March 06 · Rocky KopylecNice area great view of Jerome. Stayed here for a night and we liked it. My only issue is they don't like campfires but that's anywhere in up north because of fire danger. They're not too strict on it when the grounds are wet as long as you have a fire pit.
February 14 · E.F.F.We ended up driving past it as it looked like a jam packed parking lot / refugee camp (even off season, during weekdays). Angel valley campground wasn't any better, just a bit more space. Kinda felt grimey compared to other dispersed campgrounds further north. Can't ask for too much with a free campsite, I guess.
February 23 · Charles ByeSuper crowded. Lots of people with generators and barking dogs. Kinda hard to even sleep. Skip and find yourself a better campsite.
