Indiana Beach / Monticello KOA Holiday Reviews
We booked a Deluxe Cabin here that was ADA-complaint. We came with family and booked 4 deluxe cabins together. We had about 8 adults and 8 kids in total. We loved having our own strip in the back of the KOA for yard games and the family gatherings. It was fun to see wildlife out our screened porch in the morning.Pros:Not too busyGreat cabin layout for familiesPlaygroundPoolCamp store has some conveniencesCons:-Not many amenities for a koa. The splash pad and mini golf are part of another campground. The mini golf costs extra and is not worth it - seems very run down. The neighboring camp ground has many attractions just left to rot it seems.- cabins are a step below hotel accommodations. They are “broom clean” and feel fairly dirty.- uncomfortable mattresses wrapped in many layers of plastic- have to bring your own bedding, towels, cooking utensils, plates, silverware. this adds a lot of stuff to bring and there is not laundry onsite- no beach!!Overall our stay was pleasant but I don’t think we’ll come back
Jun 18, 2025 · AmandaI really wanted to give the park 5 stars, but it's the other guests that caused the negativity. I have never been to a park where so many people walked or rode their bikes through the middle of our site. A young teen literally rode his bike over our rug just out from our camper door, while we were sitting RIGHT THERE. Five minutes before that our neighbors across the road had a cussing match with another guest as he walked by with his toddler. My two 8 year olds who aren't exposed to the profanity at home had to hear everythingAside from other guests, the park is great. Super nice camp store, clean pool and awesome splash pad. The sites with a concrete patio were something I wish other parks offered more. The bath/shower houses were pretty decent as well. I look forward to trying other KOA parks as this was our first time.**Edited to add at 12:15 am**My husband and I wanted to sit up and enjoy some quiet time together by the fire after the kids went to bed. The website says quiet time is at 11pm and that includes no golf carts out and about. Our neighbors and their kids across the road, we can hear EVERY WORD they're saying. We've seen a minimum of 8 golf carts driving around. STILL people walking through our site while we are sitting here. We say hello or ask if they need anything, but are ignored because I'm certain they know what they are doing is rude.Being a holiday weekend, you would think there would be more security to uphold the rules yhat theyve taken the time to add to their website. But, to wrap it up, it really is a nice park besides other guests not following general rules that most parks have for a reason.
Jul 06, 2025 · Teddi KuhnThe place is clean. Plenty of bathrooms, which is helpful for little kids. Downside, the playground is worn down, put put is not at this location but the next door location. The pool, which was not open, which is fine; does not look appealing; at all. The people were not friendly at check in. I was told on the phone by guy that we could come at 2p for the cabin; we got there at 2p. I was pretty surprised when I found I would be charged $20 to check in early. When asked the same guy he told me that he got the times confused. The lady, immediately jumped out of her seat and demanded that I was charged $20 and checked to ensure he charged me. Or I could leave come back at 4p but I would need to leave the campground. I was surprised. I agreed after driving 2hrs to get there. The little red cabins were great, (we had #22,) for our family of 4. Downside, nothing for our kids to do but play at the sad little playground. The beds were not too bad and space in between was okay, little tight. Again, not a lot of room for our kids to play near us, as we cooked. We had to let them play in other empty spaces. We have been to other KOA sites and there has always been plenty of activities for kids to do. Other campers were not friendly and staff was frustrated already for the season. Sadly, we will be not staying here next month (booked already,) and choose another location with activities spots for kids and space for kids. My husband was right, this good if you are going to Indiana Beach but nothing else. Camp store was didn’t have a lot of things (we have stayed off season before and had stocked stores.) Just nothing to do on site with 2 kids who are 6yrs old. Best activities around: Van Meter Buffalo Ranch. Super cool and very kid friendly. 20 min drive and cost with a buffalo burger, chips and soda with ride to see up close buffalo, $30.00 for all 4 of us.
May 13, 2024 · Rachel HemingerWe stayed at site 97 and over all it was ok except for the sewer hookup, see the photo. The trees have pros and cons. Shade is a pro, there wasn't a lot of shade, and trying to pull out is a con, trees are on all the right side corners. We were lucky enough to be able to pull through the site in front of us to make a wider turn to get out.The pool was clean but needs some maintenance. There were large chips out of the concrete and the paint needed to be done better; sloppy and faded. The campground was adjoining to the Indian Beach Campground and as it was explained to me they were the same campground a few years ago. There were still a few seasonal sites that were grandfathered. The dog park was large and fairly well maintained. All the staff were very friendly and informative about area attractions.
Sep 01, 2024 · Matt SimonThe campground was spacious. We stayed at the KOA. The game room on this side was good, not so much on the IB side. Many broken games. The lady at mini golf was a sweet heart. The front desk lady at KOA was very nice and informative. My grandson was thrilled with the splash pad. Most of the guards were great. But some teenagers were knocking littles down. I told the guard, and she said she told them to stop and they wouldn't. Very shy. Mind you the parents were there, so I went and told the kids, they said tell my parents, which I did. There were two guards throughout our stay that were more worried about their phone. Picture attached. But the others that were there were great. Constantly walking around. I think Evan was one name, he was great.
