Out of all the campgrounds here in loud thunder, Indian Meadows is the closest thing I seen to a campground . All the spots are set back in the trees with trees and bushes dividing each campsite. I took a photo of the only campsite that would absolutely be horrible to be stuck at. . Every single man, woman and child would be walking to the pit toilet 50 feet from your tent. #3 seems to be the best spot it has the most space between it’s neighboring sites and is set back, the furthest . Indian Meadow Campground is a primitive campground that forms part of the much larger Loud Thunder Forest Preserve, a sprawling 1,480-acre natural haven managed by the Rock Island County Forest Preserve District. The preserve itself, established with the damming of Big Branch Creek in 1967 to create Lake George, offers a wealth of recreational opportunities that campers at Indian Meadow can readily access. It's a place where you can truly "unplug" and enjoy the sounds of nature, from the rustling leaves to the calls of local wildlife.
