The campground is well-regarded for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning vistas, making it a favorite for those seeking to unplug and immerse themselves in nature.
Indian Creek Campground is part of a remote oasis that is perfect for those who truly want to get away from it all. The journey to the campground, while scenic and picturesque, requires a bit of an adventurous spirit due to the narrow and winding road. However, for those who make the trek, the reward is an unparalleled sense of solitude and natural beauty. The park's friendly host and Oregon State Parks staff are often praised by visitors for their helpfulness and hospitality, ensuring that your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
The campground's charm lies in its simplicity and raw, open landscape. While it may not offer the dense, forest privacy found in other parts of the state, its wide-open spaces provide incredible, unobstructed views of the surrounding volcanic rock formations and the expansive Owyhee Reservoir. It's a place where you can watch the sunrise paint the canyon walls in vibrant colors and see the stars without the intrusion of city lights. For families, the campground is a great spot to introduce children to the wonders of the high desert, with plenty of room to run and play.

What is worth choosing?
Indian Creek Campground is a fantastic choice for those seeking a tranquil and scenic outdoor experience in Oregon. Its secluded location at the end of the road ensures a quiet stay away from the noise and light pollution of the city. While it may lack showers, as noted in a review, this is a minor detail when considering the many positives. The campground's focus on essential amenities like RV hookups, running water, and clean restrooms means you can still enjoy a comfortable visit. The on-site public restrooms, including three clean vault toilets, and a good fish cleaning station are testament to the site's upkeep.
The real draw of this campground is its natural setting. The open, rugged landscape offers a unique aesthetic that is distinct from the lush, green forests typically associated with Oregon. This is a place for those who appreciate the stark beauty of the high desert and the incredible rock formations of the Owyhee Canyon. The proximity to Lake Owyhee and the on-site boat ramp make it an unparalleled destination for fishing and boating. A review praises the location for being a "great launch location" and notes catching a lot of fish, highlighting its appeal to anglers.
Furthermore, the friendly and accommodating staff from Oregon State Parks make a significant difference in the visitor experience. Their presence ensures the rules are followed, such as keeping dogs leashed to avoid the troublesome goat head weeds, which contributes to a safer and more pleasant environment for everyone. The remote location, while lacking cell service, is a perfect opportunity to truly unplug and be present with your surroundings and companions. This ability to disconnect is a major selling point for many campers today.
In conclusion, Indian Creek Campground is a gem in Eastern Oregon's crown. It provides a peaceful and well-equipped setting for a variety of outdoor activities. The combination of RV and tent sites, essential amenities, accessibility features, and its stunning location on Lake Owyhee makes it a highly worthwhile destination for families, anglers, and anyone looking for a genuine Oregon adventure. The trade-off for zero privacy and the need to be prepared for the remote location is more than compensated by the beauty, tranquility, and recreational opportunities it offers.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Quiet, as it’s the end of the road, and it’s very open (zero privacy or cover). No showers here, even though the state’s website claims there are - those are at McCormick and they’re “cold” showers as of 9/1/21. Park host and Oregon State Parks staff are all super friendly. Boat ramp is open, even at really low water, and it’s a great launch location. 3 vault toilets were all clean and a good fish cleaning station. If you bring dogs, keep them on a leash, because the goat head weeds are everywhere and you’ll be picking them for days.

July 12 · DanielGreat little campground located just past the Gordon Gulch Creek Park and the boat launch and docks. I do believe there are cabins for rent on site.It desert scenery, and as such, the plants and wildlife are unique to this area.As always, leave no trace, leave it better than you found it, and enjoy 😉.
