Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground Reviews
About half of this campground is absolutely WONDERFUL! The side to the east of the entrance has nicely wooded sites with fantastic showers and bathrooms. The West side, however, barely contains any trees, but there is a decent playground area for young children. Those bathrooms are much smaller and nowhere near as nice, either.Location can't be beat! Lots of great trails for walking and biking, activities in the cute city of Holland, and of course right by the water and beach.
May 28, 2025 · Stepfanie SitzmanA very busy state park. I recommend staying on the Lake portion of this campground. There are trees in that area. The beach campground is on asphalt and offers ZERO shade. The park is well run and was an enjoyable 5 days. It was easy to bike to the beach.
Jul 01, 2025 · Natalie HerathI was quite disappointed when we realized there was no water hook up on any of the campsites. When we made our reservations 6 months ago. No one mentioned bringing your water. Thankful we had enough in our holding tank for us to take a couple of showers and wash dishes. Our plan was to keep this for a fur baby. Sometimes water at the campsite makes Bill sick at his stomach. Something you do not want to experience was a 65-pound dog in a motorhome. Michigan reservations should have told us this was not full hook-ups. Plus, the people in the office at Holland should have told us before parked. Just my take. In Tennessee, where we are from, it clearly states there is water/electric and a dump station. Now, I wonder if the next state we have scheduled in this 2 weeks vacation has water on site. I will definitely check when checking in
Jul 02, 2025 · Meleah WheelerWe knew ahead of time from watching YouTube that sites are packed together without much privacy, but we liked the location for just a few weekend stay. It is still a nice campground, HOWEVER, the bathrooms are locked overnight. I’m currently waiting outside the restroom at 8am and it’s still locked as well as the showers. I wanted to get an early start this morning. No idea what time the showers or bathrooms open. No signage or warnings about this besides a, “Coffee with Host at 8:30am Saturday.” We don’t have a camper with a restroom. I have never heard of such a thing at a campground. Restrooms are very nice when you can get inside!
May 17, 2025 · Bobbie HughesFantastic Camp ground. Right by the beach with a walk down. Beach store with food. Clean and warm showers. Super kid friendly. Spots don't have own fire pits, there are shared on the beach or bring your own covered one. Lovely rv campground to stay at. No alcohol allowed and quite strict on noise, calm and quite at night for the most part compared to most camp grounds
