Hobble Creek Campground

Campground ★4.0

Bridger Teton National Forest, Forest Rd 10193CG, WY, USA

4.0
I camped here a couple of times, first in 2004 and again in 2016...nothing changed. The forest service lists this as the most remote campground in the lower 48...its about 35 miles from the nearest town. I hiked to Lake Alice and fished a few miles of the creek. If you want solitude this is the place. The water from the pump was a bit sand but good. You have to cross a Ford to reach the campground so be cautious if there is high water. Have fun, and practice catch and release! - Swiftriverrob

Hobble Creek Campground Introduce

For those who truly seek to escape the noise and crowds of modern life, Hobble Creek Campground offers a rare and authentic wilderness experience in the heart of Wyoming. Located within the vast and beautiful Bridger-Teton National Forest, this campground is listed by some as one of the most remote in the lower 48 states, and for good reason—it’s approximately 35 miles from the nearest town. This isolation is not a drawback; it is the very essence of its charm and what makes it a cherished destination for campers who prioritize solitude and raw natural beauty.

Hobble Creek Campground is a place where you can camp right alongside a scenic creek, surrounded by a forested terrain with open spaces. It's a spot that has maintained its rustic character over the years, a testament to its commitment to providing a genuine, no-frills camping experience. Here, you'll find a beautiful and quiet environment, perfect for pitching a tent and settling in for a truly restful stay. The campground is also well-suited for families, as it is considered good for kids, offering a safe and exciting natural playground for little ones to explore.

The unique selling point of Hobble Creek is its remoteness and the feeling of complete disconnection it provides. This is a campground for the prepared and self-sufficient camper who values the quiet rustle of the trees and the sound of a flowing creek over the buzz of a generator or the glow of a streetlamp. It's a place that beckons to the angler, the hiker, and the wildlife enthusiast, offering them a pristine environment to pursue their passions. Reviews from past visitors highlight the unchanged, timeless quality of the campground, noting that the serene atmosphere they experienced years ago remains just as powerful today.

While the remoteness is a key feature, the campground still provides essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. It is the perfect base camp for a variety of outdoor activities. Whether you're hiking to nearby Lake Alice, fishing the creek, or simply enjoying the peaceful scenery, Hobble Creek Campground offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural grandeur of Wyoming. Location and Accessibility

Hobble Creek Campground is located in the Bridger Teton National Forest, with the address listed as Forest Rd 10193CG, WY, USA. As its reputation suggests, this is a remote location, and access to it is part of the adventure. Visitors must be prepared for a drive that takes them deep into the forest, with a significant distance from any major town.

A crucial part of the journey is crossing a ford to reach the campground. This means that travelers should be cautious, especially during times of high water, which can make the crossing difficult or impassable. The road itself is a mix of well-maintained Forest Service road, but it is best navigated with a high-clearance SUV or 4x4 vehicle. The journey, while long, is scenic and takes you through beautiful meadows and forested areas, setting the stage for the pristine environment you’re about to enter. Trailers longer than 30 feet are not recommended due to the remote nature and road conditions.

The campground offers on-site parking, which is a convenient feature for those arriving with a vehicle. This allows guests to park their car and then set up their tent at one of the 18 available campsites. While it is secluded, its location at the trailhead to Lake Alice makes it a perfect starting point for day hikes and explorations. This combination of seclusion and accessibility to other natural attractions makes it a well-positioned hub for outdoor recreation.
