He is very attentive to your needs but keeps is distance to not bother any one in our group.Otherwise campground is extremely close to the AT, Elk Garden Trail and a great base camp option for day hikers. There is access to the Bigfoot trail right from the campground too for exploring the National Forest. Wifi is decent not the fastest but works. Bathroom were clean and water pressure is amazing.Good opportunity for star gazing if weather permits. Will be back Pete good luck with your plans!
May 26 · Will MLevel spot with good water, power and WiFi to park our campervan. We Intended to stay one night while summiting Mt Rogers. Decided to stay all week after meeting Pete.Pete and his dog Smokey are the heart and soul of High Country. Their passion for the natural resources of the area and generosity make this quiet campground a perfect place to rest up between days exploring the many wonders the area has to offer.Pete has taken care of all the comforts (water, electricity, clean bathrooms and showers, and a community building) to ensure no matter how you choose to stay, you are ensured it will be a comfortable one.
May 20 · Jessica HartmanI cannot say enough good things about this place. The campground and facilities are pristinely clean and set in a gorgeous location with views of the mountains and trail access directly from the campground. The area is nice and quiet with dark skies perfect for viewing the stars at night. The owner, Pete, is one of the nicest folks I've ever met. He was extremely accommodating and helpful with recommendations for enjoying the area in my short time there. He made my puppy and I feel comfortable and at home which was truly appreciated. I'm already looking forward to our next stay!

August 12 · Nate HallerHad the perfect weekend at High Country Campground in southwest Virginia. The location was ideal, as it was quiet and felt like we were getting away but was still close to the Creeper Trail, Whitetop Mountain, Elk Garden, the Appalachian Trail, and our favorite, Grayson Hylands State Park. The campground was very clean, well taken care of, sites were large with water and electric, and backed right up to the national forest so it was fun seeing deer walk through camp a few times. A gorgeous trail ran right behind our camp site which was wonderful. The apple orchard was gorgeous so we walked back there often to enjoy sitting on the deck and soaking in the mountain views. Bathrooms were close to camp, very clean, had flush toilets, and showers! The owner of the campground was incredibly nice and wildly helpful with giving us food and recreation ideas, as this was our first time to the area. Our experience at High Country Campground was so great that we plan to make the 5 hour trek back to spend some time in October.
