Henry Cove RV Park Introduce
For Mainers seeking the quintessential coastal RV experience, offering both tranquility and unparalleled access to some of our state's most iconic natural wonders, Henry Cove RV Park in Winter Harbor is a welcome and exciting discovery. This newer addition to Maine's RV camping scene has quickly established itself as a valuable resource for locals looking to explore the stunning beauty of the Schoodic Peninsula and beyond. It’s not just a place to park your RV; it’s a strategic basecamp for creating unforgettable Down East adventures.
The initial surprise and subsequent delight of visitors are well-captured in recent reviews. As one local observed, "I am very familiar with that area and said, 'There is no RV park across from the ferry terminal'. As it turns out there is now." This indicates that Henry Cove RV Park is a relatively recent development, filling a crucial need for RV accommodations in a highly desirable location. The fact that it was "the only place that was not full" speaks to its immediate popularity and the high demand for quality RV spots in this picturesque region.
Positive experiences are already flowing in, highlighting the park's strong points. A particularly glowing review praised Tim, the host, as "excellent, very accommodating and welcoming." This emphasis on outstanding hospitality is crucial for any campground, as it significantly enhances the overall guest experience. Furthermore, the convenience of the location is repeatedly underscored: "The location is so close to the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula." For those of us in Maine who cherish Acadia National Park, having direct access to its less-crowded, yet equally stunning, Schoodic section is a major draw.
Beyond location and hospitality, the practical amenities are also receiving high marks. Reviewers confirm that "the bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean and well-maintained," and that the park offers "showers, toilets, electrical hook up, and water." These essential services, maintained to a high standard, contribute significantly to a comfortable and hassle-free stay. The added bonus of being able to bring your "pup" highlights its pet-friendly nature, making it an inclusive option for many Maine families. Henry Cove RV Park is quickly proving itself to be a true "gem" for RVers exploring our beautiful state.
Henry Cove RV Park boasts an enviable location at 81 Sargent St, Winter Harbor, ME 04693, USA. This address places it squarely in the charming coastal town of Winter Harbor, which serves as the mainland gateway to the spectacular Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park. For Mainers, this offers a unique opportunity to experience Acadia's beauty from a quieter, less congested perspective than the bustling Mount Desert Island.
The accessibility of Henry Cove RV Park is one of its strongest features. It's described as being "across from the ferry terminal in Winter Harbor," which immediately highlights a key convenience. Seasonally, you can take the passenger ferry directly from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor, providing an incredibly convenient and scenic way to visit Mount Desert Island and its attractions (like the main section of Acadia National Park, downtown Bar Harbor shops, and restaurants) without having to drive and deal with parking congestion. This ferry access is a "gem" in terms of convenience for exploring both sides of Acadia National Park.
Beyond the ferry, the park's location offers direct and easy access to the Schoodic Peninsula itself. This allows guests to readily enjoy hiking, biking (including the scenic Schoodic Loop Road), and exploring the rugged coastline. The area is known for its dramatic rocky shores, evergreen forests, and stunning ocean views, providing endless opportunities for outdoor recreation right on the doorstep of the RV park. Winter Harbor itself is a quaint working harbor town, offering local charm, fresh seafood, and a more authentic Maine coastal experience compared to some of the larger tourist hubs. The park's well-established road access ensures that RVs of all sizes can easily reach the destination. For Mainers seeking a coastal RV adventure with unparalleled access to both the tranquility of Schoodic and the vibrancy of Bar Harbor, Henry Cove RV Park's location is truly ideal.

As a relatively newer RV park primarily focused on providing essential services and an excellent location, Henry Cove RV Park may not widely advertise traditional "promotions" or complex "special offers" in the same way larger, more established chains might. Their value proposition primarily lies in their strategic location, the quality of their facilities, and the highly praised hospitality of their host, Tim.
However, it is common for RV parks to offer varying rates based on the length of stay, which can act as an incentive:
Daily Rates: For short-term visits.
Weekly Rates: Often discounted compared to booking seven individual nights, encouraging longer stays.
Monthly Rates: Provides the best value for extended visits, particularly for those looking to explore the Acadia region more deeply or stay for a significant portion of the season.
Since Henry Cove RV Park is still establishing its online presence (as suggested by the review noting it wasn't on Google Maps), the most reliable way to inquire about current rates, availability, any potential discounts for specific affiliations (e.g., military, Good Sam, etc., if they participate), or any seasonal specials they might have, is to contact them directly. Their accommodating host, Tim, would be the best source for all up-to-date information and booking inquiries.

For Maine residents, Henry Cove RV Park in Winter Harbor is an exceptionally suitable and appealing destination for their RV adventures. It offers a unique blend of strategic location, modern conveniences, and welcoming hospitality that caters perfectly to how Mainers love to explore their own beautiful state.
Firstly, its prime location is arguably its biggest asset. Situated directly across from the Winter Harbor ferry terminal, it provides Mainers with unparalleled access to both the tranquil beauty of Acadia National Park's Schoodic Peninsula and the vibrant attractions of Bar Harbor (via a convenient and scenic ferry ride). This means locals can experience the less-crowded, rugged charm of Schoodic, perfect for hiking and biking with their "pup," while still having easy, car-free access to the shops, restaurants, and main trails of Mount Desert Island. This dual accessibility allows for diverse adventures without the typical parking hassles often associated with visiting Acadia.
Secondly, as a relatively new RV park, Henry Cove offers modern and well-maintained facilities. Reviews highlight the cleanliness of the bathrooms and laundry facilities, as well as the essential electrical and water hookups. For RVers, these are crucial conveniences that contribute significantly to a comfortable and stress-free stay. This commitment to quality ensures that Mainers can enjoy their outdoor excursions knowing they have a clean and functional basecamp to return to.
Finally, the exceptional hospitality provided by the host, Tim, creates a welcoming and accommodating atmosphere that resonates deeply with Maine's spirit of neighborliness. Having an "excellent" and "accommodating" host who makes guests feel welcome adds immense value to the overall experience. This personal touch, combined with the pet-friendly policy, makes Henry Cove RV Park an inclusive and inviting choice for local families and individuals seeking a memorable coastal escape. It's truly a "gem" for Mainers looking to explore Acadia and the Down East region from a convenient, comfortable, and friendly home away from home.

Henry Cove RV Park Reviews
Tim is an excellent host, very accommodating and welcoming. The location is so close to the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean and well-maintained. Seasonally, you can take the ferry (across the street) to Bar Harbor. The convenience to both Schoodic and BH makes this a gem. We hiked and biked, able to bring our pup as well. We will be back next summer.
Oct 22, 2024 · Terri MilliganI had a woman visit my farm and she said she stayed across from the ferry terminal in Winter Harbor at an RV park... I am very familiar with that area and said, "There is no RV park across from the ferry terminal". As it turns out there is now. She said that it was not on Google Maps and that it was the only place that was not full. She said she liked it very much and that it had showers, toilets, electrical hook up, and water. If you visit here please post some pictures and what you think of it.... my information is second hand.
Sep 13, 2024 · Amos Cline (Mainemoose77)They had showers and laundry available for pay. We used the dollar coin machine in the laundry room and took showers. $5 for 6 minutes but they were spacious, clean, & hot! More of an open air concept inside portable building with large dividing walls.
Oct 02, 2024 · Eric T PaytonThis is late, but we stayed last July 4th week (2024) and were very pleased with the park. It was the first season they were open and the sites were spacious and offered water and electric. Shower House was clean and at the time didn't cost anything for the showers (not sure if that changed). Host was so polite and welcoming. We were walking distance to everything in Winter Harbor and just fell in love with the area. We will be returning!
