Located in the beautiful Heber City area, the camp is a cherished destination that combines the serenity of nature with a structured environment designed to foster personal growth and meaningful connections. This article will provide a local's perspective on what makes Heber Valley Camp a truly special place, from its beautiful scenery to its unique mission.
Heber Valley Camp is situated in the high mountains above Heber Valley, with elevations ranging from 7,500 to 10,000 feet. This creates a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, offering a refreshing escape from the summer heat and the noise of everyday life. The camp is known for its beautiful scenery, which includes not only the stunning mountain vistas but also Legacy Lake, a key feature for water-based activities. The natural environment is an integral part of the camp's purpose, providing a backdrop for reflection, a place to find peace, and a setting for memorable adventures. Its mission is to provide a place where youth and families can feel the Spirit and deepen their personal relationship with their faith, and the natural surroundings play a big part in this experience.
The camp is meticulously planned and maintained by a dedicated group of senior missionaries, who are often praised in reviews for their kindness and helpfulness. Their presence and service are a cornerstone of the Heber Valley Camp experience, ensuring that every visitor feels welcome and supported. The missionaries not only help with the day-to-day operations but also lead many of the activities and provide spiritual guidance, which is what gives this camp its unique identity. They contribute to a clean and well-ordered environment, from the cabins to the communal areas, which is a major highlight for campers, and helps create a comfortable and secure experience.
Heber Valley Camp is designed to host large groups, and its facilities are well-equipped to handle them. The camp features a variety of cabins and yurts, which are noted for being comfortable, even if they're rustic. These cabins often include bunk beds and can accommodate a significant number of people, making them perfect for youth groups and family reunions. Additionally, there are large pavilions with commercial kitchens, making it convenient to prepare and serve meals for a crowd. This level of infrastructure allows groups to focus on their activities and spiritual sessions without worrying about the logistics of food and shelter, which is a significant advantage over many other campgrounds.
While the camp's primary audience is the youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it also welcomes families and other groups during specific periods, such as late summer and early fall. This provides an opportunity for others to experience the beautiful location and the unique activities offered. The camp's focus on spiritual and personal growth is woven into many of its activities, which go far beyond simple camping. Reviews consistently mention the "Faith Walk," a challenging and unforgettable spiritual experience that is a highlight for many visitors. Other activities include high and low ropes courses, a tomahawk toss, and boating on Legacy Lake with canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats.
The camp’s mission is about more than just fun; it’s about providing an environment for testimony-building and strengthening faith. The challenging hikes, a key feature of the camp, are often related to life's challenges, encouraging participants to persevere and grow. With 32 miles of hiking trails on the property, there are plenty of options for all skill levels, including kid-friendly hikes. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We went to this camp for a Stake Youth Conference. The missionaries there do a great job at helping people have a fun and spiritual experience. The Faith Walk was my favorite part of the camp. A spiritual experience that you will not forget. It's worth it to go with a large group or with just your family.
June 23 · Trevor SmithSuch a pretty camp! The nicest missionaries you will ever meet! Challenging hikes, comfy cabins, and beautiful scenery! Heber Valley Camp has all you could ever want in a camp! Aside from the bugs in the cabins (which is to be expected since it's a camp, haha), this is an amazing place!!
June 20 · Onyx PackardThis camp is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is run by Senior Missionaries. It has been dedicated for the purpose of helping the youth and others to grow closer to Christ. They have many activities to participate in. This year they have a new "Faith Walk". Which is a very spiritual experience. This is also a walking camp, which means you need to walk to all of the activities. They do have four wheelers that can help those who because of medical needs, can get to the different activity areas. This is a very popular place and so you will need to make reservations to go here. I'm not sure how far in advance you will need to make the reservation but it's well worth your time. This is not only for youth but for families as well.
June 28 · Annette ShrewsburyThis was the most beautiful camp 🏕️ location I’ve ever been to! I mean, it’s almost like GLAMPING it brought tears to my eyes 😅. Beautiful pavilion to feed hundreds of people, and the campsites are all so close by, while you’re still in the midst of beautiful nature. The drive up here also was just breathtaking - I can’t wait to go back!
June 02 · Chris HartungGreat place to take a group. We stayed in a cabin with 6 bunk beds in main area and 2 in separate area. So it housed 16. Great activities and fun at the lake.
