Hattiesburg / Okatoma River KOA Reviews
We stopped here for one night. It’s off the beaten path and absolutely the best KOA we have ever stayed at. We are on site 35. It backs up to the private lake. The bathrooms are updated, air conditioned and spotless! The laundry room is also air conditioned and spotless. Our site was gravel and had a fire pit. The camp store was well stocked and the staff was awesome! Highly recommend!
Jun 27, 2025 · Jacki BoothOur family of 5 stayed for a 3 day Easter weekend and have 0 complaints. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous with employees constantly maintaining them. The bathrooms were spotless with private walk in showers. The camp ground was extremely peaceful and family oriented. All the staff was great, especially our neighbor Kelly, who was the event coordinator for the camp. This KOA is only 10 minutes from our home but we will definitely be back for another weekend getaway!
Apr 21, 2025 · Steven HawkinsWe're a family of 4 that travels in our Skoolie full time! Yesterday, we were traveling from Vicksburg, Mississippi down to Gulf Coast Alabama and our serpentine belt snapped. We were sitting for hours, stressed out, hungry and worried. I found this KOA on Google and it happened to be about 12 minutes from where we were. We called after hours and we were met with an awesome lady who got us hooked up with a site for the night. Once we arrived, we were met again and asked if we were ok and he told us where everything was. This morning, we needed a late check out. Mostly because our nerves are still shot after yesterday, plus it's raining and they once again, were so kind and accommodating! Our little family is so grateful for their kindness in our time of trouble. I don't think they will know how much it means to us until we're gone. Thank you!! We're sad we're not staying because this campground is gorgeous! I'm a campground general manager and our family workcamps. If this was my crew, I would be incredibly proud! I highly recommend this KOA! Awesome crew, beautiful grounds and kindness! You can't go wrong! Thank you for everything! 💜-The Smith Family
Jun 13, 2025 · Nikki SmithWonderful campground. Clean. Level. Real dog wash (for 12.50 fee). Very nice common area. Clean restrooms and showers. Quite. Lake views. Staff was friendly. It’s a bit of a drive off the main road and the last mile is gravel but well worth the trip.
Apr 11, 2025 · Beverly TidwellI am not one to ever leave bad reviews, however the owner of this establishment is trying to rip me off of $300 dollars due to a curtain rod falling off the wall, on my kid, while he was sleeping! We stayed one night here costing $175.I see an additional charge on my bank account for $300 dollars for a damage fee! This particular cabin has a sleeper sofa/coach, pushed up against the window & curtain. Around 3am I hear a loud thud, followed by my son yelling out for me. I run into the living room to find that the curtain rod fell on him while he was sleeping. I took videos of the cabin before we left (showing the rod/curtain & wall where it looked like the hole where you screw into the wall had been striped previously) I own a cleaning business & after doing this line of work for over 15 years, as well as having rental property, I know it’s always smart to take videos or pics upon arrival, as well as departure! But, after taking a closer look of my video, it looked to be stripped already, indicting it was never property nor safely fastened to being with! I made the error of not mentioning it directly to store clerk upon departure, for one bc she was busy on a call & just grabbed my key and wouldn’t get off the phone for me to even speak with her, but Number 2, I told my son to mention it to whom we believe was the cleaning person on a golf cart, while I was loading the car. Regardless, I placed the rod end & screws on the counter next to the window as well as the rod & curtain. So no missing parts or damage caused by us. Had I had a drill on me, I would have reinstalled it PROPERLY, Taking only a matter of minutes. How in the world can an establishment consciously feel right about charging someone $300 for a curtain rod falling off the wall in the middle of the night, HITTING MY SON IN THE FACE & HEAD??? Thankfully all he had was a small knot. The coach/bed is pushed up on that wall & curtain which is probably why it was lose to begin with. It’s likely getting pulled & yanked on every-time someone plops down on that couch or pulls it out to sleep on it.If I could upload my video here, showing how the hole was already striped, I would!Currently waiting on a call back & hopefully they will rectify this matter but I will not be robbed of $300 for normal wear & tear on their property that they are responsible for maintaining as well as checking the safety of anything mounted on the walls!Lastly. When I spoke with the clerk, she asked me if I was aware that there was a beer can that was left in freezer that busted? I said, no ma’am. I didn’t know anything was left in the freezer, bc I checked. She said, yes. An that called for excessive cleaning….She wasn’t aware that I took a video before we left. I know I checked that freezer & there was nothing left, so I Go back & check my video and sure enough, Nothing was left in there. There was an opened can of diet Mountain Dew that was left in there a did over flow, leaving a small amount of frozen Mountain Dew on the bottom of the freezer. I cleaned that entire cabin however, I didn’t scrape the frozen Mountain Dew up bc there is no cleaning supplies there! Not to mention, I wasn’t told that we are responsible for cleaning of the inside of fridge or freezer!!! Just insane. These people are trying to get over on their customers! So sad too be my entire family was planning to stay with them again for a family trip!
