Gregory Creek Group Campground

Gregory Creek Rd, Lakehead, CA 96051, USA

4.0
We stayed at the group site, this is our 4th year there and the water was incredible this time, so high!! Great to see that! Nice clean campground with lots of spaces for pretty much any size RV or tents. Has a little kitchen, cleaning area with bathrooms right in the middle and the main Gregory beach spot is probably 100 yards away. Great spot for a group! - Courtney Shaw

Gregory Creek Group Campground Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For California residents planning a gathering with friends, family, or a larger group, Gregory Creek Group Campground in Lakehead, CA, presents an ideal solution for an unforgettable outdoor experience. Nestled along the picturesque shores of Shasta Lake within the expansive Shasta-Trinity National Forest, this campground is specifically designed to accommodate larger parties, offering ample space and essential amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Unlike smaller, more intimate campsites, Gregory Creek is geared towards fostering communal experiences, making it a popular choice for reunions, events, or simply a multi-family getaway.

One of its most appealing attributes, as highlighted by visitors, is the often-incredible water level of Shasta Lake, providing direct and easy access to a wealth of water-based activities. The campground boasts a clean and well-maintained environment, with a mix of oak and pine trees offering substantial shade during California's warm summers. Whether your group prefers RV camping or traditional tenting, Gregory Creek provides versatile spaces to suit various needs. It’s a place where shared memories are made, from cooking together in the convenient kitchen/cleaning area to enjoying the sun and water at the nearby Gregory Beach spot. Location and Accessibility

Gregory Creek Group Campground is conveniently situated at Gregory Creek Rd, Lakehead, CA 96051, USA. This prime location places it directly adjacent to Gregory Beach and along the Upper Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake, one of California's largest and most popular reservoirs. Its accessibility makes it a desirable destination for Californians, being approximately 15 miles northeast of I-5.

To reach the campground from I-5, visitors should take Exit 698 (Salt Creek/Gilman Road). From there, if you are traveling southbound on I-5, turn left at the end of the off-ramp onto Salt Creek Road, and then take the second left onto Gilman Road. If traveling northbound, turn right onto Gilman Road. You will then follow Salt Creek Road (also known as Gregory Creek Road) for about 4 miles. While the access road is generally well-maintained for an unpaved forest road, it is always wise for Californians to check current road conditions, especially after heavy rain or during off-peak seasons, to ensure a smooth journey. The location offers a balanced experience of feeling immersed in nature while still being relatively easy to reach from major thoroughfares and nearby towns like Lakehead, which provides essential services and amenities.
