For Colorado locals, this means more time enjoying the trails and less time worrying about logistics, making your visit to RMNP as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Glacier Basin Campground Reviews
We were lucky enough to get a cancellation at Glacier Basin Campground and really enjoyed our 3 nights tent camping here. The views were stunning (morning coffee +mountain views makes for a great start to the day).Glacier Basin Campground has a very convenient location for popular trails and the Bear Lake shuttle. There is a shuttle stop at the campground itself. The campsite is beyond the Bear Lake Road entrance which is great for campers, no need to get a timed entry! We stayed in site 017 (loop A) and had plenty of privacy, space and our own bear locker. I would recommend this site and the sites either side (or on the outside of the loop). The sites in the middle had lots of shade cover but are packed in tight This would work if there was a big group of you wanting to camp together but not if you're a family who likes their own space.Bathrooms are clean (flushing toilets and sinks, no showers). There are drinking water faucets painted blue a short walk from most sites. We saw lots of chipmunks at the site and saw lots of stars at night. Camping in the park means that you can take evening hikes when the park has less visitors and the wildlife is more active!Overall, I would highly recommend this campground for families. We did have a site in Timber Creek Campground but I'm glad we got a cancellation because Glacier Basin is a better campground.
Jul 01, 2025 · Melanie WhinhamWe were lucky enough to be able to reserve a night here after someone cancels their reservation. It was so nice to be in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Made it so convenient. Quiet. Clean restrooms. Had cell service with Verizon.
Jun 12, 2025 · Kathy WoodyMy husband and I camped at site D122 during the first week of June 2025 in our truck tent. Our campsite had breathtaking views of the mountains and wildlife, sturdy picnic table, ground tent platform (gravel). The facilities, including bathrooms (extremely well maintained), rinse station, and drinking water, were conveniently across the road from our campsite. Trash bins and food storage bins were further down from us. We were surprised to have cell service when at the campsite and throughout the park. Park rangers and camp hosts were willing to answer our questions and provide recommendations. Firewood/starters and ice are sold at/after 5pm daily. There is minimal privacy to other campers per each campsite (moreso on our loop), which wasn't a huge deal, but other loops do provide more privacy with trees (loop C), which also blocks the wind but mtn views aren't as clear. The best part about this campsite was the location. Campers can walk across the street to the park and ride shuttle or use the hiker shuttle on the campsite. We utilized the trails that are connected to the campsite hiking to Sprague Lake, Glacier Creek Trail, and Bear Lake. We will definitely be back!
Jun 07, 2025 · Kaitlynn RichersonThe campground is conveniently located within the Estes Park. The camp ground is big and not clumsy at all, the views are breathtaking. The restrooms, water sources, grills, trash collection are great you should not have any issue at all. All major hiking trails and lake are only 5minutes drive from the ground. Highly recommend.
Jul 08, 2024 · Biswanath DasGlacier Basin Campground has quickly become my favorite campsite, at least for the foreseeable future. This place has everything you need for a perfect camping experience: a solid tent base, a sturdy concrete picnic table, a firewood store, drinkable water (seasonal), and spotless restrooms. One of the first things you'll notice is the beautiful aspen trees surrounding you. At my particular site (A028), you only need to take a few steps to be greeted by stunning views of the mountain range. Plus, there's a Bear Lockbox right next to the site, so you have secure storage for your food and belongings. For those like me who are coming from out of state and renting a car, the on-site firewood store is incredibly convenient. Just remember that the firewood vendor arrives at around 4 PM, starts selling at 6 PM, and stays until 8 PM. Make sure to be there within that window if you need to stock up.Overall, Glacier Basin Campground offers a fantastic mix of convenience and natural beauty, making it an ideal spot for any camper.
