★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Another amazing Texas park. Stayed in RV at campsite 43. Every spot is a great spot when you’re next to the ocean. You can hear the ocean from camp, it’s a super short walk to the beach, and the grounds are maintained super well.Concrete pads are still new looking, and pretty level. We didn’t have to do much leveling out.If you’re tent camping, coming for kayaking, paddle boarding, or want to be closer to trails, get a spot on the north side of the park. RV spots and tent spots on the south side, closer to the beach.
May 04 · J QWe’re finishing up a two week camp here and, sure, we’ve had some bad weather but it’s December. The camp modern campground along the shore is well laid out with spacious sites that are well spaced. The restroom/showers are have lots of hot water and are adequately cleaned. The sinks’ water flow is dismal however and we don’t need roaring ceiling fans on these cold days. The shore is why we come here and combined with the other park features there’s always something to do. Neighboring Jamaica Beach has a nice variety of shops and Galveston is close by. Galveston can take many of your days and evenings for exploration as there is a lot of history preserved there. Bicycling on the beach is a favorite activity for us. Walking good too. See captions on photos for more.
December 14 · John CrankshawA nicely arranged and well kept State Park, this is the place to go if you want to go to the beach and plan to stay overnight. Enjoy kayaking, fishing, and camping on both the North and South sides of Galveston. The restrooms are clean and spacious, and if there isn't a drought, the campsites are blanketed with a nice layer of grass to pitch your tent. In case you didn't know, fishing licenses are not required at Texas State Parks. One item your life will depend on: Mosquito repellant!
November 12 · MikeBeautiful park in winter, had some sunny days and was able to sleep with window open at night next to ocean. We saw a coyote running through the beach access, another camper was chasing it away. We were next to showers which made it convenient but noticed random strangers walking through #48, 47 (spaces closest to beach) to get to restrooms. Another good space is #26 although lots of traffic since it’s nearest to beach access. Showers have hot water, but building is cold, used portable propane heater to keep warm.
January 12 · Cristina HWe came to do some surf fishing. Lots of wildlife and nature to explore. A great place to disconnect and mentally rest. The sound of the ocean and spending time with family disconnected from the everyday.
