This campground offers a unique blend of practicality and access to local events, making it a distinctive option for RV enthusiasts and visitors to the region.
While some past feedback points to challenges with online registration and on-site assistance, it's important to recognize that fairground campgrounds often operate differently from dedicated commercial parks. Their primary purpose is to support fair activities, yet they frequently offer their facilities to the public when not in use for major events. This article will delve into the specifics of Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground, highlighting its prime location, the essential services it provides, its unique features, and why it remains a viable and often affordable choice for locals in Ohio.
The Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground is conveniently located at 189 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH 45631, USA. The fairgrounds are easily accessible, with clear directions available. From Jackson Pike, visitors can turn onto Merrill Evans Way, directly beside The Shake Shoppe, and follow blue camping signs to the top of the hill where the campground office is situated. This ease of access from main roads makes it a practical stop for those traveling through Ohio or looking for a convenient base to attend local events. Its proximity to Gallipolis means campers can quickly reach local shops, restaurants, and historical sites, balancing the tranquility of a campground stay with urban conveniences.
The Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground provides essential services primarily catering to RV campers, making it a functional and straightforward option for those traveling with their rigs. While some user experiences highlight areas for improvement in communication and on-site management, the core facilities are in place.
- Full Hook-Up RV Sites: The campground offers a substantial number of sites, reportedly 200, all equipped with full hook-ups. This includes both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewage connections, providing comprehensive utility access for RVs.

While one review mentioned general cleanliness needing attention, it's a vital amenity for those without full bathroom facilities in their RVs or for tent campers (though primitive/tent camping is generally not allowed here).
- Catch and Release Pond: The campground features a pond on-site, offering a peaceful spot for catch-and-release fishing, a popular recreational activity.
- Picnic Tables: Picnic tables are available for use, though campers are expected to carry them to and from their site locations. This encourages outdoor dining and socializing.
- Dumpster for Trash Disposal: A dumpster is conveniently located on-site for tenants to properly dispose of trash, promoting cleanliness within the campground.

- Year-Round Operation: The campground is open all year, providing an option for travelers even during off-fair seasons.
Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground, while functional, offers several features and highlights that make it a notable option, particularly for specific types of travelers and those interested in the local fair experience.
- 200 Full Hook-Up Sites: The sheer number of full hook-up RV sites (200) is a significant highlight, ensuring ample availability for many visitors, especially during non-fair periods. This makes it a great option for rallies or large groups.
- Affordable Rates: Public data indicates competitive pricing, with nightly rates starting around $30-$45, weekly rates at $250, and monthly rates also available. This affordability makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious travelers or those needing extended stays.

- Catch and Release Pond: The on-site pond offers a simple recreational activity, allowing campers to enjoy some peaceful fishing without leaving the fairgrounds.

- Pet-Friendly (with restrictions): Pets are generally allowed, which is a key feature for many RVers traveling with their furry companions, though specific restrictions should be clarified.
While the Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground does not extensively advertise specific, rotating promotions like some commercial campgrounds, its pricing structure inherently offers good value, particularly for longer stays.
Based on available information, the "promotions" are typically built into their standard rate structure:
- Affordable Nightly Rates: Starting at approximately $30-$45 per night for full hook-up sites, which is competitive for the amenities offered.
- Weekly Rates: A set rate of around $250 for a full week provides a discount compared to booking seven individual nights.
- Monthly Rates: Availability of monthly rates makes it an economical choice for those needing extended stays in the area, such as seasonal workers, visitors, or those attending long-duration events.
- Early Set-Up Fee: A nominal fee may apply for those wishing to set up earlier than standard check-in times, offering flexibility.
It's crucial for prospective campers to directly contact the fairgrounds management to inquire about the most current pricing, any unadvertised specials, or rates for specific event periods, as these can fluctuate. Given the feedback about online registration and callback issues, a persistent approach might be needed, but the value proposition for the services provided can be significant.
For reservations, inquiries, or to learn more about the Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground, you can use the following contact information:

Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds Campground Reviews
First of all, the online registration was very difficult to use. I called the phone number for the campground, left a message to return my call, and never received a call back. There was no manager on site to help with any problems. The grass was very long. Where is the check-in?

Feb 04, 2025 · Daniel YoderPerfect place to stop for the night. Full hookups in a wide open field. All we wanted was a safe place to camp overnight and this was perfect at a great price.
Sep 07, 2024 · Nicholas HensonAside from the noise pollution from Jackson Pike and the 35(which really isn't too loud all the time), it can be quiet and relaxing if you're good at tuning it out. I love how I can hear many of the different Northeastern birds out here in the early morning. I'm also pleasantly surprised by how many different shades of green there are in the surrounding landscape. It's really quite pretty over here....😍
May 09, 2022 · JennyYou get what you need for the price. It had all the basics, convenient and easy spaces to pull through as well as fairly level.
