★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It's an okay campground, pretty clean for the most part, a couple bathrooms. Easy access to the river in multiple spots. Shade varies depending on the site. There are fire rings with grates. It would be really helpful if the campsites had picnic tables, but other than that, not bad at all. Beautiful views of the Gila river.
May 28 · Harry RohrA very nice place to visit! The Gila River running and the rock formations are cool. You also have the Doc Campbell's Post with lots to purchase, see, and don't forget about their homemade ice cream. And the owners are Awesome!
December 30 · Luis TrujilloIts a primitive campsite with a pit toilet. Not much shade, no picnic tables so bring your own. Water is available about 5 miles up at the visitor center. Views of the canyon are great. Got crowded FAST on Labor Day weekend.Unrelated to the campground but I gotta say the roads on the way out were pretty sketchy at night. Hairpin after hairpin with cliffs or rock faces on either side. This was 152 heading to I-25. Paved all the way and well maintained just some tricky driving. Could be great fun in the daylight, not so much in the pitch dark.
September 05 · Matthew FooteOne of the coolest campgrounds!!
June 25 · Angelina MarieThis one is hard for me to rate; for what it is and doesn't pretend to be it was okay. It's more of a primitive campground without amenities. There was a pit toilet house which was decent but there were no tables and no pavement, just dirt and dust to camp on. However, it was free. Also had a great view of the Gila River from on top of the bluff where I camped, plus a great view of the river's canyon and the escarpments surrounding the area. It's sister campground, Grapevine I believe its called, a little ways before, is the same deal but I noticed a couple of local families used it as easy access to the river to splash and play in the water. In case your family is into that.
