Forest Park Campground

Campground ★4.0

10037 Forest Rd, Kelly, WY 83011, USA

4.0
National Forest camp ground. Camp sites consist of a dirt parking spot (varying sizes for different rvs), fire pit, and picnic table. Lots of places to put a tent in each site. Very rustic! There are two pit toilets. Fairly well maintained but sometimes we run out of toilet paper and the trash cans fill up depending on how frequently the rangers come through. There is an old fashioned pump for spring water, prepare to get your workout in! No running water, no electricity, no cell service within about an hour’s drive (either into Alpine or the top of McDougal Gap). Nights get quite cold unless you come in July. Camp sites are first come first served, no reservations without paying on site. Overall not the most glamorous campground ever but we’ve been coming for many years and love this little slice of Wyoming country! - Joy Reber

Forest Park Campground Introduce

For those who call Wyoming home and truly appreciate its rugged, untamed beauty, Forest Park Campground offers an authentic and unforgettable experience. Situated within the breathtaking Bridger-Teton National Forest near the small town of Kelly, this campground is a step back in time, providing a rustic and straightforward camping adventure. This is not a place with glitzy amenities and full hookups; instead, it is a haven for those who seek to disconnect from the modern world and immerse themselves in the quiet solitude of nature.

Forest Park Campground is the ideal spot for local adventurers, from families looking to introduce their children to the outdoors to seasoned campers who prefer a more primitive setting. The sites are designed to be simple and functional, with dirt parking spots, fire pits, and picnic tables, ensuring you have everything you need to enjoy a classic camping trip. The true appeal lies in the surroundings—towering pines, the crisp mountain air, and the chance to spot local wildlife. It’s a place where the days are spent hiking or simply enjoying the peaceful forest, and the nights are for gathering around a campfire to watch the stars, which are exceptionally visible due to the complete lack of light pollution. The experience is about embracing the simplicity of the outdoors and creating lasting memories without the distractions of technology.

Forest Park Campground is located at 10037 Forest Rd, Kelly, WY 83011, USA. Its location near Kelly places it within a short distance of the greater Teton area, yet it feels a world away. This accessibility is a key benefit for Wyoming residents who want a quick and easy escape into the wilderness. The campground is reachable via Forest Service roads, with a bit of a drive required to reach this secluded spot. Visitors should be prepared for rustic conditions, as the roads can be unpaved and the drive itself is part of the adventure. On-site parking is available at each campsite, accommodating various vehicle sizes.

Accessibility is one of the things that makes this campground unique. It is a first-come, first-served site, meaning no reservations are required. This can be a huge advantage for spontaneous trips, though it also means you should have a backup plan, especially during peak seasons. Being a rustic, national forest campground, it is not set up for large RVs, so campers should check the site dimensions to ensure their vehicle or trailer will fit. Its remoteness is a feature, not a bug, for those seeking genuine solitude.
