Flat Mountain Arm North

Campground ★3.0

Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190, USA

3.0
This campground has got to be one of the coolest on Yellowstone Lake. There are essentially three levels to the site: there is a sand beach on the shore with a lagoon behind it. West and up in elevation is the bear hang and fire pit, which is a great open area for cooking. Further west and up is the tent area, which is a little small and clustered, but fine. The views from the tent area and beach are really amazing. Bugs are not bad at all. Beware of chipmunks getting into food though. - Joe Hutson

Flat Mountain Arm North Introduce

For us Wyomingites, the heart of our state's appeal lies in its wild, untamed landscapes, and nowhere is this more true than in Yellowstone National Park. While many visitors flock to the bustling, front-country campgrounds, those in the know seek out a different kind of experience. Flat Mountain Arm North is one of those special places. This isn't a campground for RVs or those seeking luxury amenities; it's a backcountry gem located on the stunning shores of Yellowstone Lake. It offers a truly authentic camping experience, combining a breathtaking natural setting with the peace and quiet that comes from being off the beaten path. It is a place to fully immerse yourself in the natural world, with the sound of the water and the sight of the mountains serving as your only distractions.

The allure of Flat Mountain Arm North is its multi-level design, which provides unique opportunities for different activities. As one reviewer noted, the campground is spread across three distinct levels: a sandy beach with a lagoon, a central area for cooking with a fire pit, and an upper tent area. This layout creates a dynamic and interesting space that feels more like a small community than a row of campsites. While a reviewer mentioned a potential downside of the tent area being "a little small and clustered," the trade-off is the incredible view from the tent sites and the easy access to the lakeside beach. The serene environment and lack of crowds make it a perfect spot for those who truly want to connect with nature.
